Title: Fidelity Charitable joins the bandwagon
Post by: Blawpaw on November 18, 2015, 04:41:28 PM
More good news for the community:

The charitable savings arm of Fidelity Investments will start accepting bitcoin. Fidelity Charitable (http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2015/11/18/fidelity-charitable-opens-doors-bitcoin-giving/6AuPRn8ffZhcnanKtNmFoO/story.html) is the second-largest nonprofit fund-raiser in the country. Now, it allows its donors to contribute bitcoins to their giving accounts. Fidelity joins United Way Worldwide, the country’s largest charity, and the American Red Cross in accepting bitcoins.

I'm not even commenting on how this article was wrote... I almost gave up reading it in the first paragraph ::)

Quote
the virtual currency once used by money launderers and drug dealers trying to skirt authorities

That initially made bitcoin an appealing currency for criminals

The guy who wrote this would definitely prefer to write an article bashing Bitcoin ::) Despite this fact, this is good news :) It will definitely lead to more people donating more.

Good news. Charities are one of the best uses for Bitcoin, and I think it will prove very useful as it allows micro-funding (sending small amounts) without much problem.

And well, to tell the truth, Bitcoin has been used by criminals. Although it is biased info: regular fiat has been much more used.
