Title: AltCoin Wallets
Post by: knightkon on November 18, 2015, 05:21:11 PM
I have been looking around and I can not seem to find one specific one.  Are there any wallets that cover more than one coin.  I understand the coins are all individual, but I am looking for a wallet that I can use for a number of different coins.  If one exists out there, please guide me into the right direction.

i am not sure with your question,as a trader we all know that we have address from exchange, just try any exchange to save your coins. and i think every coins have it own wallet, you must try to visit their website or post on reddit. if you wish store it on wallet exchange, you can try bittrex, poloniex, bleutrade, yobit, and many more. it will complete.

Something like this:

BTW, i would discourage storing many coins on exchanges... They tend to get hacked or remove wallets from time to time, or they just go scam and steal your coins... I would suggest never to leave more than $10-$20 worth of coins on any exchange at a given time...

As i know only online wallets can storage more then one coin but mainly they don't have good reputation. What i can recommend is just stay with separated wallets for each coins - with this method you can sleep safe ;)

Just remember that online wallets don't give you complete safety. Using these wallets you should always be careful and don't keep large amounts of coins there.

I thank you for your information and it has been helpful to me.  I am; however, finding it hard to find an exchange for FCN.  If someone could direct me, that would be great.  I do not have many, just would rather have BTC.  Thank you again in advance.

One of the other ways is to get a Raspberry Pi and run your wallets indivually on one ! Also if they are P.O.S. coins some of the dev. already have the download in the beginning of the OP!  ;D
Also never leave any coins on ANY Exchange that you cannot afford to LOSE!! 8) (rule #1)

https://www.cryptonator.com and https://www.coinvault.io really look professional but it is not advisable for you to leave your coins with an exchange for too long of a time.
Is there anybody with information whether these online wallets can stake coins that are stored with them?

Hi CoinVault team here,
You are right the general rule is if you don't own the private keys you don't really own your funds.
CoinVault does not hold accessible copies of private keys, only encrypted copies which are useless without the wallet password.
The wallet HD seed is encrypted with the users wallet password (which goes through 64k rounds of a KDF function and a strong salt) we then store the encrypted data only.
The user has to provide the wallet password to be able to sign transactions.
This still requires trust in the developers code (which applies for many wallets out there including hardware and offline wallets) but the attack surface is reduced dramatically.

I am happy for any feedback you have on the wallet

If there was "one wallet" that stored multiple different altcoins, it would just be several wallets combined to look like one wallet.  It would have to maintain sync with each different altcoin network, and it would take hundreds of gigabytes on your hard drive.  Since your hard drive doesn't have room to store every blockchain for every altcoin, you have to just use the wallets for the coins you want.  You probably wouldn't have enough bandwidth/data to run a node for every altcoin anyway.

If it is a pos coin you want a wallet with poswallet that way you can generate interest at the same time. Otherwise just use the wallets others here have recommend.
