Title: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on November 19, 2015, 04:54:48 AM Multicurrencies
Background Multicurrencies are multiple first-class currencies carried on a single block chain. The multicurrency platform is not a single "coin", but an evolving technology that will have major revisions. A rough, incomplete, summary of mulitcurrencies can be found in the locked thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1170055 The first version is presently running in testnet for BreakoutCoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=808648), which was chosen to be the initial application for the multicurrency platform. It is acknowledged that BreakoutCoin has had some delays, but these issues are completely independent of multicurrencies, which engaged with BreakoutCoin long after its inception and coin sale. BreakoutCoin is technically a proof of stake coin. However, the multicurrency platform allows for any combination of PoS and PoW, including pure variants of either. Multicurrencies open dozens of use cases that may not be obvious at first consideration, especially when coupled with smart contracts, staking, and other technologies. For example, BreakoutCoin represents the first decentralized asset where the principal, Brocoin, is separated from its interest earning potential, Brostake, which stakes Brocoin. Both Brostake and Brocoin have all the properties of any true first-class currency, including native support by the Bitcoin input-output transaction mechanism. This means, that for the first time in the history of decentralized assets (and perhaps in the history of finance in general), separate markets can exist for principal and its interest earning potential. With the first version of the multicurrency platform complete, I have decided to make an unmoderated thread for community discussion and feedback. The testnet code is closed source at the moment, but will be opened soon after release of BreakoutCoin. All testers are welcome. I will send free testnet coins to any testers who make a request through PM. Stakers are especially encouraged and will need to supply a Brostake [BRX] address. The BreakoutCoin community has become sizable, with much interaction at brocoin.slack.com. Please PM user BreakoutCoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=375738) to request an invitation to the slack channel if you are interested in more direct contact with either me or the BreakoutCoin team. However, it has been heavily tested already and functions nearly perfectly. After a day of testing by about 25 people, we have managed to find only a few cosmetic bugs in the GUI. What are the implications of this tech? First, this is the first decentralized asset where the principal is separable from it's interest earning potential. Moreover, the interest earning potential is transferable, allowing markets to exist for both. This separability enables several use cases as follows (taken from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1170055): Use Cases Arbitrary many-to-one staking relationships give multicurrencies several use cases that will be detailed here in the coming weeks. One of these use cases serves as the impetus for creating multicurrencies. These use cases vary slightly from those of colored coins or NXT/Counterparty type assets. Briefly, these multicurrency use cases include but are not limited to:

I would release the source but it was written under contract with BreakoutCoin. It will be open source when BreakoutCoin is released. Sandbox environments are available, like Sandboxie. what are the plans to mainnet launch ? Main net will launch with BreakoutCoin. Unfortunately it is not up to me to say when. Hm. Won't this then open up another another large privacy-leaking surface on the blockchain? In which case, I wonder if it might have just abstracted the privacy problem to another level instead of fixing it. Whitepaper for this? No privacy layer is in the current protocol. The current version has the same privacy characteristics as bitcoin itself. I have mostly released these executables to demonstrate that the first version of the multicurrency platform (MC 1.0) is complete and working and also to solicit testers. As has been observed, downloading executables and running them on a vulnerable machine is not recommended. Please use a sandbox environment. Testing is appreciated. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on November 21, 2015, 12:41:11 AM idea s great, and what s devs plan of this.? Multicurrencies will be developed as a platform, not as any one specific coin. The intent is that it can be forked at any stage of development to serve as a tool for asset tracking and to use currency interrelationships to serve as metaphors for relationships between real-world assets. This is a multicurrency platform using the bitcoin-style block chain. The first coin utilizing it the multicurrency platform is BreakoutCoin. If you download a wallet and receive coins, those will be testnet coins for Breakoutcoin. Please read the OP or ask specific question for details. I will not provide steady updates here. It may be 4 days or 4 months between updates. launch date please!? The launch is up to the BreakoutCoin company and live operations at BreakoutGaming, which will use BreakoutCoin, which itself represents only the first use case. Release of the source awaits launch of BreakoutCoin. The platform will be fully open sourced and improved over time. Please see the OP for information to contact BreakoutCoin. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: MR1 on November 30, 2015, 08:52:40 AM I tested Multicurrency platform last week-end with test coins. Truly revolutionary tech. Staking feature is disassociated from the principal coin: while staking is going on with BRX, the entire number of BRO coins remain under the control of the user.
From what I see in the brief whitepaper of Multicurrency (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1170055.msg12320403#msg12320403) crazy ideas can be realized from this tech. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on November 30, 2015, 07:54:48 PM Testers: please observe the following. 1. Backup and save your testnet wallet.dat 2. Make sure you have made a send with BRO, even if sending to yourself. This will record your public key in the block chain. This BRO address must be the same as was used to request coins to join the testnet. 3. If you requested testnet coins but could not join because Tor was blocked, please go to the console, and run the command "validateaddress" on your BRO test address and PM me with the output. Your pubkey will be in the output. Testers will receive a bounty for testing. Early testers who tested without expectations of a reward will be rewarded more favorably. Please don't complain now or later that no bounty was advertised. By not advertising bounties we got testers who honestly wanted to help. If you have any questions, ask in this thread if possible. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: incognitoworker on November 30, 2015, 08:02:50 PM Watching this, nice work team!
We would also be willing help testing for you. IW Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on December 02, 2015, 09:16:30 AM Testnet Participants
Rather than scanning the block chain, I decided it would be simpler and less error prone for testnet participants to simply find their public keys and give them to me by PM. To do this, use the Qt client console (in the Help -> Debug menu) and run the following command Code: validateaddress oneofyouraddresses Where oneofyouraddresses is one of your BreakoutCoin addresses that I sent coins to. By PM, please tell me the pubkey and the address (or at least the currency) that it corresponds to. If you don't do this, I will not be able to ensure that you are rewarded for participating in the test net. We had a vote in the slack channel before the first phase of testnet started that there would be two phases. The first phase tested basic multicurrencies with a pure PoS system. The second phase will test a PoS/PoW hybrid system where PoW is able to scavenge fees that are not collected by PoS minters. This system is called "fee scavenging". Because it requires some block structure modifications, the testnet will be restarted (rather than "forking" the testnet chain, which would be more work than it is worth). If you haven't participated in the testnet yet, this will be your second chance. If you have concerns or questions, please ask user BreakoutCoin to join the slack. IMPORTANT: (1) Make sure I have confirmed I got your pubkey, (2) Make sure you recover and safely store the privkey that corresponds to the pubkey you give me! Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on December 04, 2015, 08:58:55 AM Please Stop the Testnet
It is time to stop testnet phase 1. There will be phase 2. You can use your phase 1 wallet.dat files, but it may be less problematic just to make a new wallet.dat by moving the old one out of the way. IMPORTANT: If you tested phase 1 and have not (1) given me the pubkey to one of your addresses and (2) safely stored the privkey for that pubkey DO IT ASAP! Everyone is invited to test phase 2. I will need new addresses. Those who tested phase 1 will get rewards greater than those who test phase 2. Those who test both will get the best rewards. I will announce here when testnet phase 2 starts. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: hepilord on December 04, 2015, 02:21:18 PM How can i join to testnet?

Also, your question seems to allude to Breakout Coin specifically. This thread is about the multicurrency platform. If you would like more specific information about Breakout Coin, please contact the bitcointalk user BreakoutCoin for an invitation to the slack channel. To be clear, Breakout Coin is an application of the multicurrency platform. The test net is to test the multicurrency functionality, not to get to a release of Breakout Coin, per se. I thought it would be one week to the second phase of the test net two weeks ago, but in the meantime I went to the bitcoin conference in San Diego and wasn't able to get much work done there. And for another week, I had some different work unexpectedly dominate my time. The second round of the multicurrency test net will include new features, like hybrid PoW/PoS with fee scavenging, that I feel are important for security. The new builds are version 1.1.1.0 and available at https://github.com/multicurrency/Breakout-Releases If you participated in the previous testnet you may want to retain your wallet. If you didn't participate in the previous testnet, don't care about what it is I am describing, or have no idea what I am talking about skip the next set of instructions. You can use your wallet from the previous tetnet but you MUST do the following: 1. Back up your previous testnet wallet somewhere safe. 2. Go to your breakout application data folder. A. Windows is C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Breakout B. OS X is /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Breakout C. Linux is .breakout 3. Create a plain text file called breakout.conf and put a single line that reads: salvagewallet=1 4. Completely delete the contents of the testnet folder therein except for wallet.dat 5. Start the new client. 6. Delete the line that says salvagewallet=1 If you don't want to do all that and participated in the previous testnet, simply delete the Breakout application data directory in its entirety. Once you get going, please send me an address for the new testnet coins. This is critical because it influences which lottery you will be eligible for. Critical: If you participated in the previous testnet and sent me a public key, make sure you have the private key for it! Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on January 05, 2016, 07:57:18 PM I've received some testnet requests from newbs. I will read your back posts and determine eligibility myself before I enter your account in a lottery. Jr Members and below may be eligible for other incentives. Newbs may not get a reply. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on January 06, 2016, 07:16:20 PM Important Tips for Testnet
1. When you provide me with your public key (NOT private), save your private key in a safe place, preferably encrypted with a strong password and strong encryption. 2. Your active testnet wallet stores your private key. Make sure it is encrypted. 3. Your participation in testnet will be measured by how much you stake. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on January 07, 2016, 04:59:05 PM Retargeting Fix
I made a new retargeting algorithm that had a bug, causing a lot of chain forks. Testers will need to update their clients. Please follow the instructions below and make sure you use the bootstrap provided. Links to the update are here: https://github.com/multicurrency/Breakout-Releases/ You'll see that BAM is gone from the GUI. You haven't lost your coins, I just put Sistercoin in its place. You will be able to mine Sistercoin when the block height hits 4500. PLEASE unzip and put the bootstrap file (at the above link) into your Breakout/testnet data directory and then restart the client. This will get you on the best chain. This update should allow you to mine. Other Items 1. There is a typo where immature BRO will look like SIS on the overview page of the new client. This will be fixed today. 2. I am still processing testnet enrollment requests. I should get to everyone within a few hours. 3. Testnet enrollment closes in about 13 hours from the time of this post. All current requests will be processed. After 6 AM GMT, no further requests will be accepted. I will go by the timestamp of your request not when I get around to processing it. 4. Anyone can mine Sistercoin to participate in the testnet, but this does not qualify you for lotteries. You have to enroll with me. After these manipulations I ended up on a fork out of sync (before I had no problems with stacking/syncing). Few restarts didn't bring any effect. You don't need to do it, if you have no problems, like I had. How I fixed it: 1. Close your Breakoutclient 2. Go to ~BreakoutCoin\testnet and make a backup of it 3. Then delete: "database"*full folder, "txleveldb"*full folder, "blk0001.dat"*file, "debug.log"*you will find that it's huge 1GB+ for no reason 4. Now download bootstrap.dat.zip from here https://github.com/multicurrency/Breakout-Releases/ and unzip it to ~BreakoutCoin\testnet folder 5. You can launch Breakout client now. It may hang, after load, but it's OK, give it time. Thats it. Here's what I posted to the slack, which explains what you found: There is one more bug related to the forking issue I fixed last night. People will fork if they restart their client because I forgot to write some retargeting info to the block index. It gets lost when the client restarts and so retargeting is wrong for the client that restarted and it will start banning peers. I'll have a fix tonight. In the meantime, if you keep your clients running, the network will hold together until the fix. If you stop your client for any reason, just rename bootstrap.dat.old back to bootstrap.dat and you'll get back on the right chain. The fix will take care of this. If you forget to rename bootstrap.dat.old on a restart and ban everyone, just stop, rename bootstrap.dat.old to bootstrap.dat, delete your peers.dat, and start again. You'll get on the right chain. In the meantime, mining looks good. Expect to start getting Sistercoin blocks in less than 4 hours. The debug.log will settle down when everyone has updated and is on the best chain. Algorithm: sha256d RPC Port: 60542 Windows miner that will work with version 6 block template: http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/download/cpuminer-multi-1-2-dev.zip Running the miner: Code: minerd -a sha256d -u yourrpcuser -p yourrpcpasswrd -o 127.0.0.1:60542 -t 1 The number after the "-t" is the number of cores to mine with. The above command mines with just 1 core. Conf file name: breakout.conf Location of conf file: "Breakout" folder in roaming folder (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766489(v=ws.10).aspx) (Windows) or "Library/Application Support" (OS X). Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on January 08, 2016, 07:13:23 AM Description of Lotteries: Part 1
For those helping with the testnet, here is what you are eligible for: There will be a set of 3-4 lotteries for a deck of digital playing cards. There are only 53 cards total, each unique. The top lottery will have aces and other face cards. The second tier lottery will have some face cards and other high cards, and so on. There is only one deck. There is only one 2 of clubs, etc. Each is a "colored" coin, which can be sent like any coin. They are there for trading and collectability. If Breakout Coin does as well as I think, they should be valuable at some point. The image below shows my wallet that holds all the cards from the testnet, shortly after testnet launched. GUI slots only exist for 15 cards as it will be some time before any one person collects enough cards to test this limit. When you receive a card, it will show in the GUI. These cards are fully decentralized assets. They are essentially "colored coins" in the truest sense. To transfer one, you send it to a bitcoin-like address, just like any cryptocurrency. More to come... https://i.imgur.com/hE9adSR.png Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: Historical on January 08, 2016, 10:17:14 AM Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: paolo77 on January 08, 2016, 11:09:36 AM you can specify a sample file breakout.conf ? tnx .

Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on January 11, 2016, 05:42:43 PM Phase 2 Testnet Plan
I'm setting up the server for the explorer. I'll post the IP address when it is done. I was able to sync fully to the best chain with only one restart, which isn't bad. It just means that someone is still on a fork. I'll use this server to post a utility to check your breakout wallets. Part of testnet is distribution, which means I'll soon write a utility for you to extract your privkey from your encrypted breakout wallets. Then we can use that to run a mock distro. Testnet is going to go on for a couple more weeks. After I get the (very basic) explorer up and running, I want to try to hammer out PoW retargeting. We can probably get a very nice PoW/PoS hybrid retargeting algo if everyone has patience with this process. Testnet is the best way to refine one. After the retargeting is working like I want, then I'll make the wallet tools and do the mock distro. After mock distro...LOTTERIES! Then we mock distro the incentives and wrap up testnet shortly thereafter. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: starblocks on January 12, 2016, 11:18:43 AM Phase 2 Testnet Released! Testing... so far so good :) Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: TrueAnon on January 12, 2016, 02:16:53 PM Hrm, just picked up on this "coin" or whatever it is and read all pages...looks promising (if it pans out!).

Breakout Gravity Wave (Dark Gravity Wave for hybrid PoW/PoS with different block times) worked as expected. The transition was completely smooth with only a few clients that hadn't updated dropping off. I will now work on some administrative things for Breakout Gaming, like coding the distribution of the original coin purchase. We will have a mock distribution. If you bought coins in the first coin sale, you will be able to test your encrypted wallet. We will then have the lotteries for the incentive playing cards. I have described the special properties of these cards in the brocoin.slack.com forum. Please talk to user BreakoutCoin to request an invitation to the slack. I will also be in the process of making minor fixes. For example, I added a progress bar for syncing. I will also add a chain linearizer (to make bootstraps) and fix some other minor bugs. The testnet should last about 2 more weeks. While I work on these objectives. The testnet distribution dry run is live and requires the new 1.2.3.0 client. 1. Go here and download the latest client: https://github.com/multicurrency/Breakout-Releases/blob/master/README.md 2. To get your first coin sale testnet coins, open your client, let it sync, then select "File->Import Encrypted Wallet Key" (or similar). See first pic below. The chain is long because of short block times for the test net. It will take a few minutes to import your keys as it scans for transactions. Be patient. 3. If you are staking like crazy, you can see the coins you were sent in the "Transactions" tab and choose the "Received With" filter (right pull down filter, see second pic). 4. Balances from the first coin sale are at http://chain.breakoutcoin.com/balances/ (http://chain.breakoutcoin.com/balances/). These balances do not reflect the 20% bonus. 5. The amounts you get for the dry run reflect the 20% bonus, and come in two transactions: (a) the face-value amount you purchased in the first coin sale and (b) the 20% bonus on top of your purchase. https://i.imgur.com/bvIU7cx.png https://i.imgur.com/nbTRDI4.png Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on January 27, 2016, 03:56:29 PM Thanks for guidance. Nothing in the documentation suggests that I am doing it wrong, but Qt is full of strange platform dependent quirks. This one pops up on Mac and Windows, but I have never seen it on Linux, where I do development. I am working to fix this problem so it doesn't plague users of the main net. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on January 30, 2016, 05:51:35 AM Bugfix Release 1.2.4.2
Download the new release from: https://github.com/multicurrency/Breakout-Releases/blob/master/README.md These builds should solve the big problems, namely that the client seems to freeze when successfully importing the wallet. One thing they won't fix is poor startup performance on Windows 64 bit. In some cases the startup will hang, in other cases it will hang and use a lot of CPU. A couple of restarts usually will get the client running. To fix this, I plan on simply making a native 64 bit build. I have always used 32 bit to reach the widest possible audience, but the 64 bit systems have changed so much that they do not run 32 bit software very well. I will have 64 bit available for main net, but it may not happen for test net. Thanks everyone for helping. I really am going to move on to the card lotteries now, unless any more problems crop up. Just remember, my builds currently support Linux 64 bit, OS X 6-11, and Windows NT-10 (32 & 64 bit). That's a lot of coverage, and it goes without saying that it is difficult to get everything working smoothly on all platforms. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on February 02, 2016, 08:10:05 AM Card Lottery Execution
The card lotteries will be broken down according to the first listing below. If you believe you should be in the lottery, make sure your pubkey is represented. If you don't see your pubkey, contact me, preferably through slack. If I have not personally obtained a pubkey from you already, then you are not eligible for a lottery. Only contact me if you provided me with a pubkey previously but do not see it in a list below. The lotteries will be provably fair. To ensure this fairness, the block hash of bitcoin block 396963 will be used to seed the built-in python pseudo-random number generator, according to the second listing below. If no changes are made to the public key set in the code, it will be finalized and committed to the bitcoin block chain using proof-of-existence. Lottery tiers were chosen based on participation in the testnets and otherwise. These divisions are subject to my discretion, but I spent a lot of time with many individuals over the course of months. This breakdown is based on a tremendous amount of personal interaction. The only way I will move anyone to a different group is if I made a mistake. If you have an appeal, please contact me through slack only. I will not entertain appeals made through bitcointalk. Additionally, I will not provide any explanation for this breakdown on bitcointalk. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on February 07, 2016, 01:14:31 AM How do I get my card sent to me. I'm on the new client and have imported my private keys and am synced up but no card yet??? Bulk sending has not happened yet. I have sent a few for those who requested through slack. You didn't register with me through bitcointalk, so that means you are a member at brocoin.slack.com. If you aren't a member of that slack then you never registered. If you are, just request through slack. There was plenty of time to participate in the test net. I you missed the boat, then better luck next time. I will not send any testnet cards through bitcointalk. If you are a member of the slack, participated in the testnet, talked to me personally where I verified you had done everything to register one-on-one personally, then just PM me in slack. Please remember: nothing through bitcointalk. Title: Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated Post by: multicurrency on February 07, 2016, 07:01:46 AM I messed up the send for the testnet cards. I forgot to check the test results before sending the cards because I was in a hurry to finish the script. You most likely got the wrong card for testnet. Sorry. You WILL get the right card for the main net. I fixed the error.
If anyone complains that they didn't get the right card for the testnet, I will simply link this post as my response. It's not dead. We are getting very close to mainnet launch. Please PM user BreakoutCoin for an invitation to the slack channel. Unfortunately our most neglected aspect is marketing right now. We have regular updates on slack. There has been some news lately, but only those in slack know what is happening. We can't be public at this moment. 4. Balances from the first coin sale are at http://chain.breakoutcoin.com/balances/. These balances do not reflect the 20% bonus. 5. The amounts you get for the dry run reflect the 20% bonus, and come in two transactions: (a) the face-value amount you purchased in the first coin sale and (b) the 20% bonus on top of your purchase.
