I got this email too, but am a little confused.

My order has been marked as "Ready to Ship" and it says they printed the shipping invoice.
However, it also says that the product is still being assembled and has yet to be tested.

Call me old fashioned but shouldn't things be assembled/tested first before being classified as "ready to ship"?

Perhaps I'm reading into the definition of "ready" too deeply?

Ha i agree with you there, it makes no sense at all. Seems like they just wanted to be the first to say "ready to ship".

very odd

Yep, doesn't mean what it says. It's explained in details on the btcfpga forums.
This is the usual problem with small webshops: the states and workflows don't match anything more than the simplest processes.

What is this Ready To Ship email?
This basically means that this the order the ship team will see when they get ready to fill it - you should login and check to make sure you are seeing the counts and units you are expecting to see.

Woohoo...ASIC's just in time to show up right after the reward drop.  Should be a wild ride the next month or two..

can you imagine if you applied this to a heart operation?

READY TO SHIP = "Your husband is out and making a full recovery".

WHEN YOUR BASIC HAS BEEN ASSEMBLED = "I'm now going to run some tests and see what's wrong with your husband"

o.0

BFL posters have reported receiving email stating that new delivery date for bASIC is January 2013.  You never know whether these target dates are best or worse case scenarios.

Pretty sure they are talking about BFL products being shipped in January. Or link to someone saying bASIC sent me an email that batch 1 will be shipped in January 2013 please.

You keep posting this, which posters are you talking about? All I can find is this but it doesn't say anything about bASIC.

Yeah, something's not right there. By this definition, BFL's ASICs would be "ready to ship" because someone in China is actively assembling parts...

You left the shoutbox too early, the guy was reading bASIC where the mail did not mention a company, but it was supposed to be coming from bfl? What the poster's order # was, is not mentioned

Will Tom's post on his own forum convince you?

https://www.btcfpga.com/forum/index.php?topic=125.0

For the record, I'm not a BFL supporter.  My interest is in seeing those who've pre-ordered ASICs get the most accurate information possible about when they can expect delivery.  I think Tom has done pretty well at this to date but that people are understandably frustrated when significant delays are only announced at the 11th hour, no matter which company is announcing a delay.  I think many people would rather have a company say "February" and deliver on time or early than have them give a date and keep pushing it back.

The btcfpga thread was posted after you made the post from the shoutbox, which was referring to a mail he got from bfl regarding his recent order, and was later corrected in that same bfl shoutbox by the one posting it there when people asked where he read "bASIC".    But indeed, they all seem in the same boat now, I don't see BFL shipping large numbers, or at all, before Christmas too.
