Title: [2015-11-21] TrueCrypt Is Relatively Safe But Better Solutions Are Needed
Post by: jdebunt on November 21, 2015, 10:28:32 AM
Encryption is a very hot topic these days, and there have been many reports over the past few months regarding which encryption are [not] safe. TrueCrypt has come under attack by various researchers and studies recently, although it turns out the encryption tool is much safer than most people would assume. Do keep in mind there is no such thing as a 100% secure solution, though.

There is pgp as an alternative....

I think the biggest problem with encryption at this stage is the lack of 'idiot proof' front-ends. Many do not make use of encryption as they find it 'too difficult' to use and or to complicate to implement. If it was just a simple matter of point and click then more users will make use of encryption.

Is there any good successor after truecrypt has stopped development?
I read a few times that Veracrypt shall fill out this role.
But I haven't found much of experiences by people using it.
