Title: Solo mining on a 12 x 5870 setup?
Post by: The Koolio on June 06, 2011, 03:40:50 PM
Hi guys,

cnt find much info on this, but say I had 3 systems each running 4 5870 cards at 440 hash, would it be better for me to solo mine rather than pool mine? I understand there are risks with solving blocks but I still cant find any real life experiences of solo mining. With an estimated 5 ghash+ of power I dont know what the best route for me will be. Im not looking for payouts every day, but rather I would like a nice payout every week or fortnight. I did read somewhere that it can be more profitable over long run, but ill need advice on this...

If the difficulty remained constant it would be certain that solo mining would always be more profitable in the long run.
I'm not sure that if you take difficulty bumps into account it's always more profitable, even on the long run, honestly I don't know.

It's a lottery.

Adding more power only increases your chances, not your luck.

With a smaller pool you have higher payouts than bigger pools but better changes than solo mining.

If I was in the 1.5 - 5 Ghash/s I'd go solo. Think of the satisfaction of solving your own bock. That would be sweet.

How many blocks per month would one expect to find with 1.5-4Gh ?

at 4Gh/s you would expect an average of 1 block a week with current difficulty.
