Title: SSD - Downloading full blockchain on v0.7.1 Post by: Comodore on November 18, 2012, 03:53:29 PM Hi guys.
I am reflecting interesting question. But I do not have informations and also SSD. I wanna know how fast is it to download and verify full blockchain under our standard client. I know that it takes time in days to do so with normal disc. But how good is SSD? So, what is your experience? Title: Re: SSD - Downloading full blockchain on v0.7.1 Post by: CIYAM on November 18, 2012, 04:02:44 PM The main problem with downloading the blockchain is not so much just the speed of the disk but a combination of bandwidth, CPU and I/O (and using a slower CPU such as on a typical laptop it is this that is the bottleneck).
That being said of course an SSD should improve the I/O side significantly. Thought it'd take much longer. Title: Re: SSD - Downloading full blockchain on v0.7.1 Post by: goldlyre on November 20, 2012, 03:14:16 AM Everytime it took me 40 hours to download the entire blockchain to my destop pc. It's very boring.

Yea, ramdisk with torrent = win for the initial.
