Post by: ANON.PURGED on November 27, 2015, 01:23:00 PM
Hi everyone i have question about wallet seed hope anyone will answer my question.

Im using Electrum as a wallet on my pc but my pc has broken so Electrum wallet and keys are gone. But i have the wallet seed so that i can restore my wallet back. So no pc anymore and im using wp 10 and i have Copay wallet im planning to import the wallet by its wallet seed but its not working it says invalid seed whats the problem? Will the wallet seed can only be imported on Electrum only(Not Tested)?

Both Copay and Electrum 2.0 uses BIP32 which should be okay. HOWEVER, Copay and Electrum uses different key derivation path and is hence incompatible. Electrum uses m/0/n* for addresses and m/1/n* for change address. Can you import the seed back into electrum?

Edit: Copay uses this: https://github.com/bitpay/copay/blob/master/baseDerivation.md
Electrum 1.0 seeds is not compatible with anything else.
*Let n be the number which increases with the number of address.

No you need electrum, unless you have the raw master private key which is also working with mycelium (same source).
