Title: 5M wallets created on Blockchain
Post by: zircon on November 27, 2015, 02:39:31 PM
ok so not quite....but will be tomorrow.   ;D

So here are the statistics for wallets created.

2 - 2.5M 97 days
2.5 - 3M 99 days
3 - 3.5M 99 days
3.5 - 4M 76 days
4 - 4.5M 57 days
4.5 - 5M 47 days

There is no solid conclusion that one can draw from pure wallet creation, but in my opinion it does appear to indicate that the rate of adoption is increasing. I am sure we will be under 40 days for the next 500k wallets on BC.

Might we one day approach the hallowed S-Curve?

yes it show that people want to try and use bitcoin, but i do not think this is a big indicator.

Number of wallets created doesn't mean anything , some of them are bots only , some of them are people who lost their accounts with time and created new ones so it doesn't really mean anything at all .
So basically , Unlike Paypal and other payment methods .. It's impossible to indicate the real number of users of bitcoin .

Hmm 5m wallets? Where does this stats came from? Some addresses do not even have even one single transaction on it, so taking those into account, I think it's more than 5m.

Blockchain.info is the safest web wallet you can use. It is perfectly secure if you enable your 2FA security feature. I have been using it since ever and never had any troubles.

It is probably taken from this chart on bc.i's website (https://blockchain.info/charts/my-wallet-n-users). The chart is fairly linear so it is easy to extrapolate. But as others have said, this isn't representative of the number of actual bitcoin users, just that there are more accounts being opened up on bc.i.

You might want to change your statement now

There should be more but I can't really be bothered to put all of them right now.

Blockchain.info is definitely one of the more popular wallet services right now. Even with the security issues, many newbies are using it due to it's interface and user friendliness. They don't require captcha for creating an account so I wouldn't say that there's a real growth in adoption rate.

You are just lucky ;)
Mine was hacked even with 2FA enabled and the hacker stole $5 from me
so yeah, blockchain is not secure at all, use desktop or hardware then talk to me about the security ;D

For desktop wallet try to use electrum or if you got some money to spare go for trezor hardware wallet
good luck securing your coins ;)
