There are number of reasons for this ,let me list them for you : You don't want to carry that extra piece of hardware everywhere you go and you want to access that data .Cloud storage seems like a better option.Upload once,use anywhere everywhere What if your drive fails ? Hardware issues or broken motherboard .Cloud storage doesn't depend on any of that sorts.Yeah in case the server crashes or hacked or whatever your data is still safe in the virtual databases .
