Title: Bitcoin may need friendlier, more professional forums for adoption.
Post by: TheGr33k on December 06, 2015, 03:50:42 AM
I have decided that with all that's occurring on this online forum, I'm going to be creating a brand new Bitcoin forum very similar to the concepts of this forum if not completely identical. I would first like to start off by saying that I am not shaming the way this website is being ran. I do personally feel that my vision for a forum is somewhat more tolerable and useful in terms of a forum where people can run small businesses that deal in bitcoins more calmly and effectively.

One of my businesses named " Technacoin" is a business that focuses on creating a safe outlet for people of all ages to freely and effectively connect with a technical business partner of your choosing to hopefully work with, and deal in bitcoins. Since we have noticed diversity in business is very needed, we will be making it a business network for any industry, and not just in terms of technological innovations, advances, and services. Think of it as match.com, but for workers to link with each other for free. There will be a form for you to fill out in terms of what your chosen business name is, what you offer, how you offer it, where you're willing to do business, how you're willing to do it, how long you've been doing it for and so on. There will be a small forum where people can simply converse with each other about Bitcoin as well.

I've been noticing that the reputation option has been being used almost like an attack tool here, so some of the people here that feel they've been unfairly given negative trust won't have to worry about a rating underneath their username.

In terms of how we will decide if a business owner is a trustworthy person to work with, we will be asking you to simply give substantial evidence and support that you will provide exactly what you say you will. Evidentiary support in this sense would be posting photographs of your merchandise with a specific code sent to you in the mail, or you can copy this code in a specific way that we ask you to. Having the code next to your merchandise in a photo will ensure authenticity. As for services, you'll only be asked to give references and demonstrations. The way we will ask you to demonstrate will be on the website. At any given time that you are reported to an administrator for any reason, your business will have to be evaluated. Automatic computerized transactional services will be  provided at no additional cost to you, so no escrow will ever been needed.

There will not be an ignore feature on the website. An ignore feature will not be necessary because we will be making it an abusive free zone. Blasphemous or obscene language, jokes of any kind, insulting, belittling and posting about other users will not be tolerated. Sexually inappropriate behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. The website is for strict business use and for professionals to have a lively place to exchange ideas, suggestions, questions, merchandise, and services.

I don't know how long it'll be until it's ready. My business partner and I are already exhausted at the moment, and I myself have been running around like crazy coding websites all year long. I really am tired and exhausted. We don't really know when we're going to make this happen but we do hope that it is before my other business partner launches her fashion line. At this point, it is just a gamble on time, because I do not want to let anyone down if they are very interested in the idea in terms of making Bitcoin look much more professional.

I feel that this forum is already really great. It is definitely friendly but I would definitely say that it is not a professional forum. I think that it is great that you are making a new forum, but how are you going to spread the word about this new forum?

Not to burst your bubble, but it's already been done ---> http://www.bitbiz.io/ .... The owner might consider selling it to you, if you want less hassles in creating your own from

the start. There are similar forums out there, and the vetting angle is interesting, but it can be very difficult to implement. I have to say, Bitcointalk.org is a tough act to follow.

The signature campaigns just gives this forum the X-FACTOR that other forums cannot duplicate with a low user base. Throwing a lot of money at it in the beginning is the key to

the success... that money must go towards giveaways and prizes and competitions... then you will see some massive growth.. VERY quickly. Good luck... It's tough building a forum.

Signature campaign is a very important part of the forum. It give value to the post and honour good posters apart from the ranks in the account which can be bought. You can pay 50 bitcoin to buy a VIP account.

Thanks. I'm not going to make any promises because of my schedule, but we'll see what happens.

Let me tell you already 'what happens' - NOTHING.

You wrote to long bullshit post - and that is the end of it.  You are all done.  'because of my schedule...' just means you don't have time because you spend all day jerking off on the Internet.   So, we are all stuck with this forum.  Bummer.

Hmmm.  Maybe we do need a friendlier professional forum.  Where do these assholes come from?

Don't feed the trolls please, they do it for the attention you give them. The moderators enjoy and respect them so it wouldn't matter if I reported this because they just don't care so just take a deep breath, ignore it and focus on the topic.

If you need proof on that, here.

Apparently, people who threaten to kill others are also highly respectable people here.

I can't say whether or not I find it user-friendly, because I am not trying to insult the forum. I do feel my proposals were ignored. With that in mind, I feel the need to go ahead and create my own forum. I have the right to freely spread awareness for these Bitcoin growing ideas though. I do apologize in advance if it does seem as if I am belittling this forum. That was not my intention.

Sounds nice, a new forum, more professional and friendly. But this forum has users. The main problem creating a new forum, is having users that wanted to read and write on your forum, and isn't easy. Professional users like this forum because they make a post here and hundreds or thousand of people can read it.

Don't worry about that. We are going to be able to advertise our forum pretty well.

Sounds interesting, healthy competition never really hurt anyone. I seem to recall Theymos encouraging others in the past to start a community if they felt someone else could do better. I can't say I've ever been treat unfairly here, but have seen feedback/trust abused to punish other people.

Making an elitist forum will mean alot of moderation and may make the said forum not very active.

Go for it, the biggest obstacle for you would be getting the people to join and participate, I have seen many people trying to make new 'better?' forums in the past but they all failed because they couldn't attract members.

Bitcointalk has come a long way where it is right now and it's almost the center hub to know anything and everything happening in the Bitcoin world. It's a trusted marketplace too, people come here to trade and they feel safe trading here (thanks to trusted forum escrows) and I think it can be a friendly place if you don't participate in controversies and forum politics. Just be a friendly, responsible member and care for the community you're part of and you'll see it's not bad at all.

And you should be, because this is the most important part. So far it seems that you want to create an Utopia instead of real life forum.
There is nothing wrong with your goal, but I don't think 'friendlier and more professional' forum will be possible to achieve judging by general bitcoin population.

You need a forum which can support itself. The account should also be valuable to users. Signature campaign can make the account useful.

Sounds like a good idea. This forum is moderated of course but a forum where you know the scammers are gonna be weeded out is a powerful idea. I don't know how you'd make sure everyone stayed straight, it might attract people who are patient enough to do some epic scams instead of dumb little ones, but good luck all the same.
