A million threads from people who give their opinions with zero facts, or who claim to be able to see the future and can predict BTC movements into the future (yah right), and my new favorite, threads with completely fake headline news.

Basically you could delete 99% of the threads on here, and you would not miss anything.

LOL. If you think this Speculation section is bad, you should check out the Gambling section.

What facts are there, by the time the facts come out bitcoin either drops or goes up. So it's to late.

He probably took advice from someone on here who sounded like he knew what he was talking about, and lost a pile of cash. Otherwise why was he reading the speculation forum if it's such a waste of space? I haven't looked at some boards here because they have no interest to me, so why doesn't he just ignore speculation?

this is speculation, there are no facts, every speculative theory is based on gut feeling at the end, TA is not the Messiah that can tell you the truth about where the market will move

That's the point of speculation.
The definition of speculation is: "the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence."

+1 for meta, but also agreeing with the original point.

I think the problem is the word "Speculation". To me that means "speculating with BTC", i.e. it's a section of the forum for discussing trading. To a lot of people it seems to mean "any speculation about the price of BTC is on-topic". Regardless of who's correct, the latter spawns a greater number of low-value replies (1, 2 word posts, etc).

However, I also tend to agree with the poster who suggested that ignoring this section is the answer! It's maybe an OK tool for scanning and assessing sentiment, but speculators probably don't need to read 100 posts providing yes/no answers to the question "will BTC reach eleventy thousand this month?" to trade effectively.

Your probably right but speculation is also probably my most visited sub.

No its not a waste of space as it generates pageviews for the forum, its currently the third most viewed board(Reference (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats)).

I like this forum even though I think most posters are clowns with unreal expectations and or gambling problems. It's good to keep your finger on the pulse of what the masses are thinking.

I get relevant info here, you just have to dig through a lot of shit - which can be entertaining in it's own right. Tell you what, I'll arrange for your refund - just post your btc address and the amount you paid to join this forum and I'll fix you right up.  8)

There are other definitions of course (apparently there's a game called "Speculation", for example) but this one seemed the most apt for Bitcoin and a sub-section of the "Economics" section of the forum.

I agree that this section of the forum has lots of biased posts. On the other hand it also contains some great insights.

You're right, but look at the very definition of speculation and that's just what they're doing but if you don't care for that sub then don't go in there. Problem solved. At least it's out of the way there and people aren't clogging up the main bitcoin sub with price speculation crap.

There are many ways to predict the $1m price for bitcoin. You can select the method you like and make yourself happy.

Nothing wrong with the Speculation Forum, the Lending Section is the worst, full of scammer newbies trying to get loans with no reputation & no collateral. Scam city on there.
