Title: Wire transfer <-> Bitcoin
Post by: hippich on September 24, 2010, 03:01:09 PM
I have a company bank account in one of European countries. If someone needs to do wire transfer <-> bitcoins, let me know. My actual bank expenses are about $10 on inbound wire and about $20 on outbound wire. Also, I will have soem expenses if I do not have enough bitcoins available as well as to earn something. Anyway, if you have such needs - mail me at pavel@yepcorp.com and we will discuss this matter.

Why the high expenses? Wire transfers within Europe are normally free.

Receiving wires between EC countries is free (for amounts up to €50k) although this excludes the UK afaik. Sending wires is not, and $10 wouldn't feel outrageous, though my two banks would charge much less, €1.5 and €3 respectively. But a company account for a foreign entity will probably be ruled by totally different values, especially if the account is twinned with another one US based on the same bank.

Is there enough need for this? I could probably start something of the kind, assuming people wouldn't mind a small extra on the coin price (I don't have that many, so there would be some brokerage). I could probably offer the transfers, though. Or even better, what do you guys think of AlertPay?

It's corporate account for offshore company. I just put what I have. It doesn't makes any sense for small amounts, but if you will get serious amounts - I am pretty sure this will not be a problem at all.

Thanks for the answer.

@nelisky, I've done a couple of sending wires last few years and never paid anything. On some consumer programs here on television a few years ago people had the same experience as what you are saying and the hosts of the show said then that there are 2 ways of sending. One being free (maybe capped to a specific amount) and one that costs money. Many banks had this way of paying with costs as a default, but that has changed since then, because the banks got a lot of complaints about that.
