I am not aware the read-only exists. I just tried, it's not functional as nothing happens when you try to navigate beyond the index page by clicking on the forum links. I also wrote an app (thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1195830.0) but it is not done yet. It reads and can post, but it is a little slow and the UI needs a lot of work.
