It's called a hammer.Though seriously, it's the hardware that needs to be reset and thus a power cycle is needed when the software reset wont reset it Also try master cgminer if you are using the bitmain fork ... When my miners go zombie I have more than one copy of cgminer open and the other copy of cgminer eventually picks it up. just lots of down time...
