Title: Blockchain disruptions
Post by: Huobi-USD on December 07, 2015, 07:20:39 AM
Most of us already known the benefits of the implement of the block chain in the financial system. Nevertheless , could you, at least, touch upon 3 more industries or systems that could be benefited for the use of blockchain?

How about charities? It would then be possible to see what happens with the donations. After all the allogations about the money being spend on expensive managers and cars, this way, everybody could check all their expenses.

An honest charity, using many volunteers and cheap office space, should not run into problems with this system.

gaming also, i've seen some  project about this already, they could implement the resource directly in the game, int he form of bitcoin and altcoin

I like that idea of charities. Gaming also makes sense. Obvious one is property / ownership / notary of assets on the blockchain - both for transferring and just as proofs.

The hospitality industry. Don't want to say too much more about this at this time though.

Politicians promises should have their own blockchain. We could have lot of fun running block explorer on that blockchain and press would have easy job slinging mud on them.

every type of industries that need information be stored and saved safely needs bitcoin.
from insurance to pharmaceutical industries, even bank could get an help by implementing some tools blockchain based.
At some point I think it's only matter of time and we could see a big use of this technology in the nearest future.

It's useful but I don't think that an open ledger is nice.
Like, everybody will see the public address "hey, that guy is rich, lets steal him"
The blockchain would be needed for internal use, and then, benefits of using an internal blockchain is unkown to me.

the gaming industry would be and i believe will be a natural home for bitcoin, paying for games and inapp purchases.  I like the ideas of charities using bitcoin i am sure they probably lose a fortune dealing with banks and the likes and then they would also have to convert the fiat across borders.

Not an industry: Democracy. Every citizen gets a private key to vote. This makes voting provably fair, fast and very low cost. Of course will not see this, because politicians don't want true democracy.

Industry:
- Military:  Example, technology could be used to synchronize drones
- Space:  Blockchain could be used to have a decentralized robot network on Mars
- File sharing:   Decentralization among machines. I have heard about a project named Stroj, but don't know if that took off.

Yes, voting would be very interesting. There are some platforms out there already that allow voting, like NXT! Of course, this needs to be polished further and improved upon.

Apart voting, there are many other industries where blockchain will shine in the future. Just like the others have already stated. This is truly a next huge big thing after the Internet! People seems to be realizing this slowly!

Like stock exchange, smart contract, ID record system etc, they could base on block chain technology! I know running and securing the blockchain is consuming a l lot of energy!

The internet of things is about networking mundane everyday devices like toasters and cookers through the internet. Those devices could use bitcoin for payments. If they break down they cold arrange for a repair man to visit and pay him in advance saving people the trouble of making repair arrangements themselves.

Personal fitness industry. You could track your workouts using the blockchain.

Personal planning. Track time studying, working etc.

Orders in a store. Track the number or value of orders, the days in which they were dispatched, etc.

Proof of existence for documents. Proving that a piece of information existed at a certain point in history.

Remote control and transactions triggering events. See http://www.ucontrol.tv/buckets/ (possibilities can get much more complex than the example)

passport control

imagine every airport had a miner, every embassy, every passport agency.(distributing the database to ensure individual employee's couldnt create fakes)

and separately all the departments involved with validating passport applications and doing checks had a multisig address. as the application passes through the departments. it is signed (if accepted) and eventually transmitted to all the miners.
now that passport ID is locked into the chain. showing its been signed and validated and no single person could have faked a passport.
now all the airport terminals can view the passport data using 'block explorer' web-browser tools.

this would save:
IT maintenance as even the cleaner could replace a miner if it packed up, without worry of data security.
auditing can be less costly as the blockchain does most of the checks
human security of data centers wont be required
data centers wont be required
less office staff, less internal investigation/fraud teams

etc etc

I think the area where the Blockchain can make the biggest change now, would be to make voting more fair and also Land registry to protect land ownership. These records cannot get lost, once it is captured in the Blockchain. Smart contracts are one of the most innovative concepts developed with the Blockchain in mind.

It is great to see that the Blockchain has so many fields, where it can make a difference.
