Title: Bitcoin-Pool open for testing (to be open-sourced!)
Post by: davout on June 07, 2011, 12:14:17 AM
Good news everyone !

There's a brand new pool at http://pool.bitcoin-central.net/

It's going open-source in a little bit, but first I need to do some live testing (I ran a fair bit of testing on it before)

Please do throw some megahashes and comments/ideas at me.

To start mining create one or more workers and plug them on pool.bitcoin-central.net:9337

Thanks a lot for your help :)

EDIT : Do not try to create paid-per-shares workers, the rewards are set to zero for the time being

Shameless cross post :

The pool now mines on testnet, blocks should arrive very soon so the block management, and payment splitting mechanism can be tested in the wild after having been successfully validated against my own mined blocks on testnet.

Accounts have been wiped, please register again, you will need to provide a valid testnet address, if you don't have one go here and pick one randomly.

Pay-per-share is not supposed to work as of yet, I still have to code the part that calculates the timestamp-bound share reward according to block difficulty and pool operator configured pay per share fee.

Port : 8337
Long polling : enabled

Share based coins are nearly the same as my forkless towncoin proposal (1st link in my signature). But now I don't even need that proposal. Still having that GPU miner around just so the town can have coins is like having a Grand Inquisitor following you around. But now I can move forward.

Oddly enough, the changes to the main client would have been less work than you put in. But no matter, I'll make this worth all the hours you put into it.
