Title: Sofware scan computer looking for seeds
Post by: Btcism on December 10, 2015, 07:39:46 AM

Hi, there, I have read a lot of lost and corrupt and some hopless cases of loosing BTC´s because of errors or distraccions, and I have by now a pretty collection of posible solutions and "only way to" or "las resorts" but I haven´t yet found the software that scans the whole sistem in search of intentionaly hidden seeds on hard drive, does anybody around would like to make life of tons easier, wich is my case; can´t remember even if I keep it on the HD.

I made  atransfer accidentaly to the default wallet, resulting in a totaly oblivion and considerably juicy walllet, I´m lock out but I will find the way to get those bittys, Of course with loads of help.

prior thanks and  Grettings ;D

So send coins to a wallet where you neither have the seed nor the password for? What wallet software do you use? Sounds like Electrum.

Yeap, Is Electrum wallet, I have all seeds but that one, Default wallet has become a big cruel teacher of a basic lesson  :/

I have this almost sure feeling that I must keept the seed some where, is it there already that seeds scanner?

But you still have the wallet file and can open it, right?
I take it you don't remember the password either.
Do you remember part of it? You might be able to brute force the password.

Hi, yes I have the file and acces (watch only) to the wallet and several variations of my passwords, wich way do you recomend to brute-force it? any hint to get to the goal is apreciate.

    Thanks for reply ;D

Thanks @torusJKL I´m starting right away, it seems is not going to be easy since my passwords variations are pretty long-complex, I wont let those creep-coins there,  I am ready to age old but will get them...   XD

I let you know how is it going.

So here I am so sure about how is going to be my next password and after a deep meditation on my e-wallet methods and discipline, got all the stuff installed (Btcrecover-master) in order to start the struggle.

I´m afraid my password is a kind of paradox, on one side is simple and predictable but on another side is infinite complex so I´d be able to remember but still be stealth enough; anyway after make my token list and copy my wallet file I run Btcrecover and it starts counting until 22,300 000 then remain like that with blinking cursor but nothing happens, could it be that I need to divide my tokens on two or more lists? to make it lighter, my password don´t have especial characters but have caps and numbers and is 16 chacs. long. I´m sure I will get it because I think it gottta be a type mistake, I send the bitcoins to the default wallet so it should have the first password I cooked (I asume).

Thanks to @torusJKL to made things faster.

Code:
C:\btcrecover-master\btcrecover-master>btcrecover.py --wallet default_wallet --tokenlist tokens.txt
Read additional options from tokenlist file: --autosave progress.sav --pause --typos 1 --typos-case
Using autosave file 'progress.sav'
Counting passwords ...
22,300,000  ETA: 2 minutes and counting

UPDATE:   As I was thinking is a resource thing, I need more memory, processor possibly a  bad-ass video-card, meanwhile I´ll try the --no-dupchecks command.

I´m using a quad core with 4gb Ram with a lame video card.

Code:
C:\btcrecover-master\btcrecover-master>btcrecover.py --wallet default_wallet --t
okenlist tokens.txt
Read additional options from tokenlist file: --autosave progress.sav --pause --t
ypos 1 --typos-case
Using autosave file 'progress.sav'
Counting passwords ...
44,700,000  ETA: 3 minutes and counting
btcrecover.py: error: out of memory
btcrecover.py: notice: the --no-dupchecks option will reduce memory usage at the
 possible expense of speed
Interrupted after counting 44700000 passwords

   Any sugestion is wellcome.

I got that, Thanks. Now is running fluently and the sistem isn´t slow at all, is counting 642, 000 000 passwords and still running smooth!  I set the commands on the token file.

        I´m crossing fingers. :-\

Code:
C:\btcrecover-master\btcrecover-master>btcrecover.py --wallet default_wallet --t
okenlist tokens.txt
Read additional options from tokenlist file: --autosave progress.sav --pause --t
ypos 1 --typos-case --no-dupchecks

Hi, mi sistem is still running smooth, and my patience is keeping steady, I understand it will take some time, just hope to keep the process running (I have a robust UPS) or not loose the advance in case of system crash.

    This is the counting....

Code:
C:\btcrecover-master\btcrecover-master>btcrecover.py --wallet default_wallet --t
okenlist tokens.txt
Read additional options from tokenlist file: --autosave progress.sav --pause --t
ypos 1 --typos-case --no-dupchecks
Using autosave file 'progress.sav'
Counting passwords ...
17,786,000,000  ETA: 19 hours and counting

I´ll be persistance, thanks again guys for made things easier, I´ll keep in touch.

Its still counting, there was not a single attempt to open the wallet. Did you make a run with --performance in advance? Its looks like you are searching for a solution between too many possible passwords.

Does anybody knows wich is the command to continue the process on certain point? I have turn off my computer tottally forgotten I was processing...

It seems it doesn´t save the advance, now I feel frustrated, 3 days lost, argh...

 ???

I´m afraid I am Sorena, do you think I can reduce the number of possible passwords? I mean is it possible to reduce the attempts without eliminating the whole necessesary combinations to get a positive result?

Im checking the --performance command right now, to see what are you trying to say.   I have lost 3 days of process and am fearing it did not save the progress  :(

Code:
C:\btcrecover-master\btcrecover-master>btcrecover.py --wallet default_wallet --p
erformance --no-dupcheck
Using 4 worker threads
- 9080955  elapsed: 0:00:42  rate: 214.61 kP/s

  Hi @Sorena
Trying it, Is it a kind of measurement to calculate the estimated time to get the whole process of youy token list?

seems I need to dive a little more into the software to learn how to use it :/

--performance gives you an estimate how long it will run given you know how many passwords you are going to try. Without knowing your token file I dont know how many passwords it will generate. 200k Passwords per second is not bad.

You can limit the number of tokens with --max-tokens and --min-tokens. If you however only have a single token and mainly look for typos its no use to reduce this.

If you have used --autosave you can continue by using the exact same command, e.g.:

Code:
>python btcrecover.py --wallet mbhd.wallet.aes --tokenlist tokens_abc123def_.txt --autosave test.sav --typos 1 --typos-case --no-dupchecks
Using autosave file 'test.sav'
Using 4 worker threads
264 of 1042 [##########--------------------------------] 0:00:05, ETA:  0:00:15
Password found: 'abc123def'

>python btcrecover.py --wallet mbhd.wallet.aes --tokenlist tokens_abc123def_.txt --autosave test.sav --typos 1 --typos-case --no-dupchecks
Restoring session: --wallet mbhd.wallet.aes --tokenlist tokens_abc123def_.txt --
autosave test.sav --typos 1 --typos-case --no-dupchecks
Last session ended having finished password # 265
Using autosave file 'test.sav'
Starting with password # 266
Using 4 worker threads
0 of 777 [--------------------------------------------] 0:00:00, ETA:  --:--:--
Password found: 'abc123def'

or you just run:

Code:
python btcrecover.py --restore test.sav

??? For some reason the btc recover is not saving sessions....

I won´t give up, just waiting to have some spare time to check, this whole matter demands  me too much, I´m learning on the way, I´m looking forward to invite some drinks, we´ll get it (or not, we´ll cheer some drinks).
