Title: How have you helped spread the adoption of Bitcoin?

I think starting a conversation with someone around would do a lot. You may never know if they are interested in it. I've met people around me who were looking for a way to make money without much hassle. They have found out about bitcoin and that's what they do now.

I've done this as well, sometimes it works out to just talk about it but sometimes people are just not interested or they don't understand the concept of what bitcoin is or what it stands for.

Well I've told my mom about it once and she didn't really care for it. Up until she heard something about bitcoin on the news.
That's when she became interested and asked me for more information on what it is exactly.

ive helped business start ups,
ive helped established businesses get involved
ive introduced alot of people to bitcoin
ive helped people get jobs in the bitcoin economy
ive helped people avoid cons/scams involving bitcoin
ive helped people understand bitcoin
ive handed out lots of bitcoin to people(litecoin too)

but now i think i/we all need to concentrate on bitcoins usefulness before really pushing random people to get involved.
helping businesses BEFORE helping 'average joe' will make the later 'average joe' helping alot easier when the time is right

I would like to think that I have helped in many different ways. For starters, I have used my bitcoins for purchases. This of course spreads the adoption as the stores see that it is worth taking bitcoin payments in. I have discussed with and educated multiple people about bitcoin in real life. Lastly, I have created website in my own language which explains bitcoin and helps newcomers all the way from choosing wallet and earning their first coins.

only merchant can really spread and increase the adoption, average joe or bitcoin savy random guy can not do really anithing, besides spreading the info to his friends, which is not really helping adoption on global scale too much

merchants should be encourage in some way to accept bitcoin, maybe if they see the price increase they will add bitcoin, or they are simply waiting for more regulation

I'm trying to do it. Talking with friends about what is, how you can buy it, and how to spend bitcoins. And now talking with a collectionist about bitcoin, he like the physical coins that i have, and asked me what is bitcoin. He didn't know anything about, and now he is interested about bitcoins and could be that in some weeks he join onto this world.

Indeed , it's really not that easy to do  . I tried hard but it wasn't successful what I did is that I spoke about it to some of my family members  and frinendn but well .. they found bitcoin interesting but they never tried to know more about it and try it .
Other then that  I didn't do anything , I mean what could a teenager actually do to help something big as bitcoin to spread more ? probably nothing .

Then you sell them 1 BTC, then buy back at Bitstamp for 430+.  Good plan.  ;D

  • I educate myself.
  • If after explaining it some they show enough interest to get a wallet on their smart phone then I give them a Bitcoin penny 0.01BTC or dime 0.10BTC to get them started.
  • I tip some service providers, e.g. barber, instructor, etc.
  • I give gifts, e.g. high school graduations, etc.
  • I offer and buy back gifts with US Dollars.
  • I participate/contribute to this forum and the Facebook page for Michigan Bitcoiners.
  • I run a full node 0.11.2 (without mining).
  • I provide funding indirectly through speculating both with retirement (Roth IRA) and non-retirement accounts.

I have been spreading the word to friend's and family.  I have also asked all my friends and family to pay me through BTC, this way I can get them to get a wallet and all in order to get me money.  I am away from home a lot and when they pay me through BTC, it makes it easier for me to collect.  Better than Walmart's 30 minute wait and 100 forms of ID in order to get your money through money gram or such.

I wrote someone I know a snail mail letter about the mechanics of signature campaigns. Though they have draw backs, it is a novel idea and one that has intrigue me for quite a while.  I've also brought up Bitcoin in conversation with some coworkers, but none of them seem interested in the least.

I will tell you a best way to explain what is Bitcoin, for this the other person should be very interested in learning for which he should see value in it hence start like this first of all start using Bitcoin and bitcointalk forum in front of them and make them curious and make them ask you about Bitcoin then start explaining it will be easier when the other person has a willingness to learn, I can understand it will be a big challenge to explain about Bitcoin to someone who don't have much knowledge about Internet and technologies.

Buyer, HODLer and user of Bitcoin.  I buy gold from time-to-time with it.  But, most BTC I have, stay HODLed.  :)

I have introduced BTC to just TWO people that were interested to listen.  Only ONE of them holds more than $5.00 worth of BTC, and to my knowledge he is inactive.

We still have a long way to go before BTC becomes BIG.

I am currently trying to spread Bitcoin adoption by telling my friends and family about it (And even some strangers). I am also campaigning with some companies to get them to start accepting Bitcoin, and showing how Bitcoin has been beneficial for various other companies.

I have a few people who are interested and have entered the Bitcoin economy, but some of them still think it's fake internet money and won't have any value/shouldn't have any value.

Personally to my friends most of them (or all of them) didn't know about bitcoin.
When firstly i explained to them they believed that this is fake and it's dangerous.
But the more time has been passed the more people are using it and the community is increasing.

Hey, you make a good point.

In my opinion, the issue at hand involves our programmed pattern of thought when it comes to access to information, and thereby, technology.

Our system of mass media, though it is a played-out cliche to speak of its control over people in our society today, cannot be easily de-throned as the ruler of most people's minds - especially when it comes to new and emerging technologies.

--- Conflagrate all that with issues of money, privacy, trust etc etc etc and this entire cryptocurrency thing is a hot-button issue, I can guarantee you that.

So, most people are just going to sit back and wait for a branded, logo-having COMPANY to tell them that what to do.

It is difficult for many or most people to understand that much of the commercial technology that they use everyday has its foundation in Open Source type of research and development.  (I'm not excluding myself from these critiques)
We often want to be assured that there is a commercial entity, with resources at its disposal, standing behind the products and services we consume.

--- So, look at my avatar and signature. I come off like a paid shill for Monero. In reality, I just hope for increased adoption, in order to increase the value of my paltry holdings, via the Network Effect.

Do I really think any of this can survive in today's day and age? No. not really. Dystopian is my unfortunate outlook on the future. If the world was more utopian than dystopian, would Satoshi have had to stay unknown? I don't think he or she or they would have felt forced to do so.

And crap, I'm forgetting to mention the biggest issue of all: All money has been fiat for how long now? Bitcoin and the coins that have followed it are NOT FIAT.

 ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

~90% of people are going to lose their minds if you try to explain the history and concepts of money to them (and I'm not talking about the dumbed-down version of the history of money that they teach in primary schools). In their minds: All money is fiat money. Anything that isn't fiat money is going to confuse the crap out of them until mass media explains it (probably in ~30 second segments).

Well, I firstly have adopted bitcoin, and when more people do that, they drive the price up, and people see that, and join too. I've also told all my friends about bitcoin, and they were very intrigued. Only a few days ago, my friend bought 6 Antminer S7s! Do you think he'll get an ROI?

Some of my friends said i'm wasting too much time, and bitcoin is a bubble. Sometimes I believe them, sometimes I don't. It really depends on my mood.

I have told some friends I use it to earn some income, and also have explained it to my brother in-law in more detail. He got interested somewhat, but that (I think) is mainly because he is a computer scientist and it does not frighten it so much.

Most people look at you as if you were talking about toy money or something illegal.

Why does it depend on your mood? If you really enjoy using Bitcoin, what other people tell you shouldn't matter. I also have friends like this but I just never listen to them, they can say whatever they want.

Well you should just tell them that Bitcoin is the currency of the future. They will definitely believe you, or keep laughing at you. Why do they say that? There are a lot of uses for Bitcoin, so they don't know what they are talking about.

I have been promoting Bitcoin for years.  I used to sell Bitcoin on localbitcoins.com just to get people started and to meet people interested in Bitcoin.

That is until I was arrested, thrown in solitary confinement, had my assets seized and spent 9 months and $300,000 to defend myself against the bogus charge of "operating a business without a license" for selling Bitcoins on localbitcoins.com

If you are interested you can read more at:

www.burtw.com

I still promote Bitcoins when I can.

Talking about it is a way to spread the adoption of bitcoin. I understand that sometimes it can be tough but you gotta try if you believe in bitcoin.
I know some people who are aware of bitcoin but don't do anything with what they know. Because they don't believe in it or find it hard to understand how a digital currency works.

I already spoke to a few people about it. One or two were already aware. Someone else, I had to introduce to; I was

incredulous that he never heard of it, even after the news explosion in December 2014. I could not believe that at all.

Well, we had a long talk over the cash register at the c-store (the friend works there) and he was going to look it up.
