Title: Making money by leaving your PC on?
Post by: btguydude on December 12, 2015, 10:08:13 AM
I never liked BitCoins because I was too lazy to read about them, but now I'm looking to earn some money by just leaving my PC on, seeing as now the electricity is technically free for me.

Having said that... I finally looked into mining coins, but it's inefficient as hell... If I was running my PC 24/7 with GPU miner on, it'd take me a year to mine two LiteCoins. That's definitely not worth it, it'd maybe be worth it if it was in a month.

I'm sure some of you have thought about it from my perspective, so... What other ways of earning some money by just leaving my PC on would you guys suggest? Something less $6 a year, and more $6 a month. I would be honestly satisfied with extra $30-50 a month.

So you want $30-50 a month for doing nothing? I'd suggest begging on the street as that's one of the only ways you're going to earn money without actually working for it. Your best bet here is to join a signature campaign as many can earn that easily in a month (with a higher ranked account) but you won't earn anything without some effort and low quality posts will lead to a ban so take that into mind.

First off, begging isn't doing nothing. Secondly - I'm looking to use up my resources while they are not being used. That's not nothing either. I don't mind taking time and a learning curve setting it up.

Don't forget - my goal is to use the available resources while they would otherwise be wasted. The only thing I can't do is pay an investment - I'm pretty poor.

Also, don't worry about low quality posts. I don't post unless I feel like it's important enough. That however makes me have very few posts on any forum I join, so it's doubtful I'd go anywhere within a few months here.

Anyway, what exactly is a signature campaign?

Yup, found that yesterday. Looking forward to using it as soon as they start paying, I've half a terabyte laying around. But since now they don't, there's no point in using it.

That's literally how mining coins works. You leave your computer on after launching a program. If you want it so badly, you can launch it for me. ;)

You need to know that mining coins is a very difficult process. It usually requires computer systems with high computational power due to the algorithms that are processed from time to time. For you to make coins, it is better if you get third party agencies that will mine the coins on your behalf. Even though this results to a high cost of each coin, it is better than having to mine it alone. Pooling together the resources is the best option to go. I do mine coins through another company and things have been great.

Unless you can get a really good deal it's not cost-effective anymore, as far as I know. Even so, I can't afford to invest into anything anyway. I know that some IT guys do that at their workplace.

Maybe you are earning now some, but do some signature campaign in this forum and you will see a month you maybe will get 150 dollars.
For students is a nice money to get it take only 1 hour a day.

Lots of info on beginners and help section, its there for this exact reason. Hate repeating myself, but basically a site pays you to display their ad in your signature space.

Basically instead of having your personalised signature you rent that space out to advertisers on this forum.

Search "signature campaigns" and you'll find a list of it.

But signature campaigns doesn't count as "making money by leaving your PC on" IMO.

What? How could this work? I cannot imagine doing surveys with if you leave your PC?

On the topic, I don't think there is any efficient ways to just magically 'earn' as much as $30-$50 in a month by doing nothing. Or well... Leaving your PC on while doing nothing.

I can easily think of multiple ways to earn just leaving your computer on,send me a message if you would like for me to tell you since I rather not post it publicly

That's not leaving the PC on, that's wasting my time for little reward.

I make money when I sleep and when my pc is turned off.  ;D

If you mean electricity, you're not making money. You're saving money. Couldn't hold myself. :p

Doesn't sound that bad, assuming I would keep having something to say and post about. Side income though, doesn't count as what I needed. But yea, good idea, I didn't know that existed. It explains why on some other forums I see sigs that look like ads and make me wanna block them.

Thanks for the suggestion.
