So. Anyways, I just felt like griping, cause I just whacked said finger on the table, and it's pissing me off, so I'm having to type "I", "K", "," and the like with my fourth finger and it's bugging me >.< So anyways, here's my griping, and the aforementioned disturbing picture.

Yeah. It didn't help that my default reaction to my friend making fun of me for it was to scare the shit out of him when he wasn't paying attention. How did I do that? I slapped the damned table. *lesson learned*

It was a little deeper, this has been healing for almost a week now. It was a "safety" razor, so I only could cut as deep as the blades were spaced. I have no idea why that was in there with my phone charger v.v

I am quite aware of this. He used to be at least entertaining. Now he just spouts random "philisophical" nonsense.

I'm saying, you had a brief lack of awareness, causing you to inflict pain on yourself, which you then learned from, to be more careful.  Karma taught you a lesson.  It's just learning from our mistakes, not repeating them.

I lost a good chunk of my right thumb almost... 8 years ago. 10? I don't remember. I knicked it on a tablesaw while splitting a narrow piece of wood flooring. I'm lucky I only lost my thumbprint and not my whole thumb! The skin grew back, but the nerves didn't. All I have is one little cluster in the middle that's uber sensitive. Kinda annoying, but doesn't bother me now!

Yikes. My woodshop teacher (yes, it's one of those stories) managed to cut two of his fingers completely off on a table saw.

Nice of you to update OP despite the missing tip of the finger. Kudos.

Well, ain't that ironic! About ten days ago I, too, cut the same finger on my hand, albeit it was the left one but not the middle finger. It's the finger between the middle finger and the thumb and doesn't have a name like the other fingers do, which is also ironic.

My Grandfather works in carpentry/construction, specializing in kitchens. I got 2 uncles that did wood flooring, and a 3rd that did tile. My high school summers were spent working with them. They all know enough people, that I've heard some pretty bad horror stories. 0_0

buddy of mine does flooring.. I see him on a regular basis and his hands are always beat to total shit.. Why not wear some damn gloves? :)

Not a good idea to wear gloves when operating machinery like table saws. Gloves can get caught and pull your entire hand/arm in as opposed to getting nicked or "only" losing a finger.

Like mechanic style work gloves? I understand something like this happening with some shitty loose work gloves. He is more of a carpet guy "installer" I know they do hardwood at times.

I guess I'm a woosy :P 

sliced the tip of my thumb off (about 3-4mm, about 1/8") and my thumbnail hasn't grown back properly ever since (15+ years now).

I hate curiosity.

Actually when I thought of this thread, my grandfather lost the outer part of is thumb in an accident once. He was using a heavy rotating stone to sharpen knifes, and his finger somehow got stuck into the rotating machinery, and his outer part of the thumb was ripped off.

Anyway, I know of an even more scary accident. I used to work with a guy with only one arm, he lost it in a place where they work with trees. Somehow his hand was stuck with some piece of wood that was going into some machinery, and there went his arm...

I know of one other guy too that was in a motorcycle accident and lost one of his arms.

So, after all - the topic starter wasn't that unlucky..

Crazy.. I almost broke my neck because I hit a sandbar going about 60mph on my jetski.... tossed me a good 50 feet away.
