Title: New To Mining, Pool/Coin Recommendations ?
Post by: RidgyDidge on December 13, 2015, 03:16:03 AM
Hi all,

Long time cryptocurrency speculator here thats finally signed up to Bitcointalk and taking the dive into mining :)

I have acquired some Scrypt mining hardware (a few Gridseeds and a Zeusminer X3) that I finally worked out how to operate.

Should I mine newly launched Scrypt altcoins, litecoin or multipool mine ?

Multipool could be a good choice. You can also rent out your rigs. The best mining rig rent site is NiceHash.

Depends on your intention. Only for profit? Go with Multipool and check the current profitability http://poolpicker.eu/table?algo=scrypt
Expect a price explosion of certain coins? Do some research and get a good amount, hold it and sell at a price you are comfortable with.
You want to support a coin you like, profit is not so important? Mine this coin.

Which coin?

You can mine Ethereum coin now. It is very profitable. Its value is just being recognized. The price could rise in the future.

I would not recommend him that option. The difficulty is rising fast, and he might never get his investment back if the price drop of just a few mBTC.

It is still profitable to mine Ethereum. But I do not know how long that will last. The difficulty is rising fast.

Even if that's still profitable to mine it, buying graphic cards only for this purpose might not be a good idea. But after all, there's still other coins to mine.

I heard that CPU coins are making a revival now that down-payments are/have been put on X Series ASIC Hardware...

GPU miners will need a new algorithm when that happens thus making way for the CPU only algorithms.

I don't know where you heard that, but that might be true. Since I'm not a user of any CPU-mined coin, I could even not give you one name, so that can explain that I'm not aware of this.
