Title: [P2P] Ever Wanted to Ask a Pirate Questions ?
Post by: Spoetnik on December 15, 2015, 04:56:19 AM
I have been involved in File Sharing often called Piracy for a long time.

I wanted to make this topic so any people out there could ask questions.
Or of other people already into P2P can discuss it..

Have you heard of people downloading stuff and wondered how they do it ?
I can answer these questions ;D

I have used many programs and tools and methods.
Most of the time i get info from web sites that post File Locker links.
Then i go and look for a torrent for the file.

Some times i have to use File Locker links if a torrent is dead though.

A handy tool is Firefox w/ search plugins for Torrent sites.
I have a link to a search provider / plugin in my SIG here fro bitcointalk.
But i also have search providers for KAT, RarBG, ThePirateBay Torrent sites.

Have you always wondered how that stuff works ?
Wondered what kind of files you can get ?

- Movies
- Music
- Games
- TV Shows
- Porn
- eBooks
- Android APP's
- Windows Software
- Linux Stuff
- Leaked content.

and much more..

You too can be a pirate like me, all you have to do is get an eye patch and uTorrent v2 (the best torrent client)

How do you stay anonymous from law enforcement? Is piracy legal in your country?

It's not illegal in Canada.. we also pay a blank media tax that goes to the CRIAA.
People need to check the laws in their own country.
Also maybe Google search TorrentFreak to keep up on that sort of stuff.. i do with an RSS feed.

And i don't usually bother trying to stay anonymous.
They can't really do anything.

Some people use VPN services though.

I contend since i am not doing anything wrong why do i have to hide ?
The files we share do not belong to Copyright trolls.
They are digital derivatives they are created on our file sharers hard drives.
They can try and claim they "own" OUR files but they do not !

My previous ISP sent me an email once bitching about some movie i downloaded once.
Claiming i had it shared for uploading ..i didn't.
I snagged it then stopped seeding.. so that was bs.
But seeding is far more dangerous than simply downloading.
Anyway i told my ISP to go fuck themselves and carried on downloading
for a LONG time after and they never did squat about it.

Quote
A blank media levy was introduced in Canada in 1997, by the addition of Part VIII, "Private Copying", to the Canadian Copyright Act. The power to set rates and to set the distribution allocation is vested in the Copyright Board of Canada. The Copyright Board has handed the task of collecting and distributing the funds to the Canadian Private Copying Collective, which is a non-profit private organization.

In Canada:

The levy applies to "blank audio recording media", such as CD-Rs.
The levy is paid by importers and manufacturers of such media sold within Canada (and typically passed on to the retailer, and passed on to the purchaser).
With the exception of the zero-rating exemption, the levy is collected regardless of the purchaser's end use of the media.
The private copying levy is distributed as per the Copyright Board's allocation as: 66% to eligible authors and publishers, 18.9% to eligible performers and 15.1% to eligible record companies.
The Canadian Private Copying Collective has developed a methodology by which the proceeds are distributed to rights holders based on commercial radio airplay and commercial sales samples, ignoring radio/college airplay and independent record sales not logged by Soundscan. This methodology has been criticized as favouring major-label artists at the expense of the long-tail. As of September 7, 2007 over one hundred million dollars has been distributed.
In conjunction with the levy, the Copyright Act allows individuals to make copies of sound recordings for their own private, non-commercial use. They may not distribute the copy.
In 2005, the Federal Court of Appeal overruled a 2003 Copyright Board decision which had applied the blank media levy to MP3 players such as Apple Inc.'s iPod, on the basis that such devices did not qualify as "audio recording medium" as per the Copyright Act definition.[7] Before this, the proposed rates were $2 for players with less than 1 GB of capacity, $15 for players up to 15 GB, and $25 for players 15 GB and over.

On February 12, 2007, CPCC asked the Copyright Board of Canada to reintroduce the levy of $5 to $75, this time onto the memory component of the digital audio recorders (such as MP3 players) in Canada.[1] In addition, CPCC also proposed levies of $2 to $10 for memory cards (since withdrawn), 8 cent increases to CD, CD-R Audio, CD-RW Audio and MiniDiscs.[2] Certain parties objected to this tariff based on the 2005 Federal Court of Appeal precedent and brought a preliminary motion before the Copyright Board that would have prevented that part of the tariff application from being considered. The Copyright Board dismissed this preliminary motion in July 2007.
In September 2007, an application for judicial review was brought before the Federal Court of Appeal to appeal the Copyright Board's dismissal. On October 26, 2007, the court granted the Canadian Recording Industry Association's request to intervene in the private copying/iPod levy judicial review.[3] Some argue that CRIA wanted to limit the scope of the private copying levy, given that it legalizes copying for the private use of the person making the copy, possibly regardless of whether the source is non-infringing or not.[4]
In January 2008, the Federal Court of Appeal overturned the Copyright Board's July 2007 decision, stating that its previous ruling in the 2005 Canadian Private Copying Collective v. Canadian Storage Media Alliance case is dispositive authority for the proposition that "the Copyright Board has no legal authority to certify a tariff on digital audio recorders or on the memory permanently embedded in digital audio recorders."[5][8]

Canada's current private copying levies are as follows: $0.24 per unit for Audio Cassette tape (40min or longer), and $0.29 per unit for CD-R, CD-RW, CD-R Audio, CD-RW Audio and MiniDisc.[9] The Pirate Party of Canada, or the PPCA, has recently brought up the idea of scrapping the tax, as there are plenty of non-piracy related uses for CDs and it is unjust to punish Canadians who don't use them for these purposes.

Welfare - financial support given to people in need.

You are living off social assistance.

My money is paying for your theft of copyrighted material and all the food you stuff into your obese body.   :(

Because I've never once been racist.   ;)

You live on an Indian reservation
- I never called YOU an Indian - besides, why do you think that is racist??
My taxes pay for your way of life - I never said you don't pay taxes, even though you make no taxable income.

Dude i made some joke way back about Alberta people.
It was obvious i was just joking around.
Every since you have popped up on what ever topic you decide to attack me on.
With insults.. what is your problem ?

and yeah your accusation on me in ALT main on a Monero topic that i lived on a reservation WAS intended as an insult.
And some other guys posted they found it very offensive.. as do i.
Yet you just did it again LOL
I have never in my life lived on an Indian reservation.. sorry but that is the truth.
Further more i have asked where you got this info from and you refuse to say.
Only on your 4th trolling attempt did you post some old quote of me saying i was on Disability.
And yeah i was.. common knowledge, i had said it on Cryptsy chat way back lots for example.. so what ?
Not sure what your grand point is here..

You got yourself a bee in your bonet over me for some reason.
I bet people are wondering why.. which is why i keep biting on your Troll games.

EDIT:
Congrats on derailing my Topic though.. classy shit super star ::)
By the way you may wanna read up on the rules since you proclaim to be such an authority on them bud ;)

No one is going to believe your dumb ass bullshit anyway.. everyone knows i tell the truth.
Even if it makes me look like an an asshole ..i don't care. (i have nothing to hide)

Bottom line is your making a mess of many topics i have posted on.. often with Lauda.
And some how you think this makes me look bad ?

And you may be a cocky smug little fucking prick but i haven't even started with you yet.

Since you have sucked a lot staff cock i will assume they will do nothing about your Trolling bullshit.
So i will deal with your ass myself.
And that is not a threat Mr Wolverine it's a promise ;)

You got a matter of hours..

Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Even if there's a fee added to blank CD sales I'm sure piracy is still illegal in Canada.

I'd also say uTorrent is far from the best torrent client, it's filled with ads and run by a commercial company which has had some nefarious activity in the past.

NO it's not illegal and that -IS-why the govt collects tax and gives it to the CRIAA.
And "idiot"
Yeah the smart ass who doesn't know the rules here.. yet like to play moderator around here.
This suspected pedophile Trolls me and you dumb cunts agree with him and have jabs at me ?
Your losers .

Bootom line the defintion of piracy is debatable.. it always has been so STFU and fuck off assholes.
You guys into P2P know this so STFU.
You guys are deliberatly trying to make a mess of my topic with Trolling & Insults.
I wish i self modded it actually.
i answered every question honestly by the way.

There is no law against downloading mp3's for example (in my country) for or against.
And your treading on thin ice starting with me on this.
Little do realize i have spent my life as a file sharing advocate and have my name on my own P2P program.
and i have been involved in File sharing circles since the start.
I have an RSS feed that gives me updates on everything that happens when it comes to copyright and P2P
For 10 to 15 straight 24/7
I have argued and won with all the major ant-piracy trolls millions of times and handed their ass to them endlessly.

And i am still here downloading.

Bottom line is any asshole can call up my ISP and demand they own this or that.. doesn't mean it's true.
Those Trolls out there simply seen us downloading Mp3's then ran along after saying wow what a great idea..
I think we will still your file format and copy cat what your doing and then charge a fee (monetize it)
then declare what you were all doing as illegal *after the fact.
Bullshit !
They don't own my files.. If they did how do they originate on File Sharer's hard drives ?
Because we made them.. derivatives.

Before spouting off get educated brats.

Troll my topic more and you assholes are all getting reported for acting like a brat.

You found my first post here at the forum ?
Hmmm congrats

That was my bunny coin parody.. i posted in the Newbie section (remember the nooby jail rules ?)
BunnyCoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=258208.msg2753177)

At some point mods moved it from the nooby section to altmain..
and a year ago i deleted my main comment.. and tons of others..
i had planned on deleting every comment i ever made.. why ? i got pissed off at this shithole *AGAIN*
mprep is "cunty" ROFL

Funny part is people tried to pick apart my fake coin topic part by part.. claiming some of it was unbelievable.
And i told them later when i figured the joke had run it's course..
That i had copied each part from different real and very serious. topics around Crypto.
Such as ?
The part quoted above was taken directly from KRICHWINS from Cryptsy chat.
He said word for word he got his girlfriends / wife's permission to quit his job
and spend their savings on Altcoins so he could do Altcoins full time.
THEN..
My coin description was stolen from Feathercoin / FTC
And the rabbit logo was taken from google.
I put up a fake Github link too..
And funny enough most people bought it and kept asking.. Where is teh Windoz QT ?
The real funny part was even after the joke was exposed  years earlier..
Comkort exchange posted announcing they had added my coin H AHAHAHAHHAH AH A H HA
THEN faggots in the scene ran around defending them (such as Carbon Coin douches)

ZackClark was moderator in that section back then and i have PM's back & forth from him
on that topic from years ago still.. so i CAN still prove it (even though i deleted the topic 1st comment)

If ya'll wanna find dirt on me good luck with that.. you aren't gonna find any sorry LOL

A VERY good post, people need to revisit the idea of p2p file sharing. Between private trackers and Piratebay's outlandish troll dreams; people have kinda lost interest in file sharing.

So here is a commendation from one pirate to another fellow pirate. Well donnaaarghh!!

My question :
Do you know of any good private trackers that have a huge resource of ebook especially elearning books or scans of engineering / coding books??

It's well known Demonoid was big on ebook's.
But i don't know what to suggest on that actually.. i don't usually search for them.

I have long liked the idea of using P2P code to make a coin with ethernet / wifi POW scehemes
Instead of mining with a GPU we would mine with our internet adapters.
Maybe that some how would even things out ?

There is a lot to P2P .different aspects.
Streaming sites, File Locker link sites and eMule still works and Torrents of course.
And many sites still use P2P for legal distribution.. hell this forum posts Torrent links for the BTC wallet.
Same with Linux distribs etc..

Just because you support P2P does not automatically make you a criminal and a child porn downloader.

File sharing has definitely waned of the years but it DOES still live on.
I just seen big news with Comcast though guys.. the lost their long running court case.
Check out TorrentFreak (https://torrentfreak.com/) for News guys !

Hey Spoetnik, I've been downloading since the Apple II/C64 BBS days. Never had a problem. Lately I got a couple of emails from my provider, one for Boardwalk Empire and another for Hateful 8. That's two "notices" in the past, I don't know, maybe 33 years. I don't think Canada gives a shit about software piracy.

I remember way back when I downloaded my first game for the Apple, it was 1983 and I was using a 300 baud modem. Back then the terminal software would show you the code being downloaded. There was no speed indicator, just text scrolling across the screen at about the speed of holding down a key and having it repeat.. I read a post on the BBS that its illegal to download and cops will arrest me. I shit my pants for a day or so, then nothing happened... So I just kept downloading.

I think everyone on the forum pirates stuff from the internet, if you are smart enough to use Bitcoin u can download as well.
I know some people who can't even download a movie, me I was already download stuff since napster and from private ftp servers which where hacked and then stuffed with movies and series.
And I have recently found out some private forums are really good as well like Bitsoup is a good one if u didn't know that.

So kid, do you realize that FBI/NSA can be spying on you via backdoors inbuilt in uTorrent because it's closed-source?
FAQ: What's closed-source?
Ans.: Closed-source means the real code that was used to create the secret .exe files is not open to public and so none can audit if it sends your torrents and statistics (encrypted) to secret FBI/NSA IPs.
You should probably stick to the Qt/FOSS equivalent of uTorrent like qBT

Socialist system will always pay for some persons not deserving it and living only on social welfare. But 99% of welfare is given to people really needing it, and used for the greater good of a country.

What do you mean "deserving it"? For example in a capitalist system a lazy rich person that he never worked in his life, deserve to be rich?

My previous ISP sent me an email once bitching about some movie i downloaded once.
Claiming i had it shared for uploading ..i didn't.
I snagged it then stopped seeding.. so that was bs.
But seeding is far more dangerous than simply downloading.
Anyway i told my ISP to go fuck themselves and carried on downloading
for a LONG time after and they never did squat about it.

You're a dumbass, you even admit you know what VPNs are but refuse to use them:

Some people use VPN services though.

Is piracy legal in your country?
It's not illegal in Canada..

My conclusion is that you are truly fucking retarded..  (http://globalnews.ca/news/1919187/canadians-who-illegally-download-movies-may-be-risking-more-than-previously-thought/)

Please restate your comment in the form a question oh "smart one".

Hey Chief.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_copying_levy

Why it would seem to me that the govt of Canada collects a forced tax when purchasing a variety of items at the store.
like what ? Blank DVD's..
Hmmmm i wonder why they would force me to pay a special tax ?
And who gets the money ?
Why the CRIAA does (Canadian Recording Industry Association of America)
Hmm that's odd, why would they get money from all Canadians EVEN of they never downloaded in their life ?
Seems a bit strange to me to collect money from me by FORCE then call me a thief who stole.. what i just paid for.

It's illegal for sure ?
Well ya caught me so.. feel free to call the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and tell them i stole some MP3's.
..i will be the one hiding under my bed.  :'(

My Conclusion ?
Get educated..

Why the change in attitude?

It's not illegal in Canada.. we also pay a blank media tax that goes to the CRIAA.

Piracy IS illegal in Canada.

But Spoetnik doesn't care - he lives off social assistance anyway.   :-\

nope & nope.

keep trolling fat fuck.

The question mark implies a question. (like the simple comment / question you left me here)
And if that was not enough i thought it was obvious to smart people i was beings sarcastic.
I would show the RCMP the Wikipedia page and say uhh what criminal code is that bud ?

By the way guys..

https://torrentfreak.com/pirated-star-wars-blu-ray-leaks-online-160323/

Yup.. i got it (1080p HD BluRay Rip)  8)

I had thought this would be a discussion of anything P2P related with some questions.
Because i know for a fact a lot of people don't know much about it.. i do, i have been at it for decades.
..never "arrested" once ;)

I am appeasing you Trolls acting like childish pricks trying to pick a fight about whether it's illegal or not.
Whether or not it is? changes nothing.. people will still have questions about it.

What would you guys do if i made this topic the same but about stealing cars instead ?
Would you come here like whiny assholes railing on & on about how stealing is wrong ?
Or would you ask me how it's done ?
I should know better than to expect some of these "Legendary" assholes here to have a mature conversation.
..my bad.

PS:
You can use a dent puller available at a hardware store for $25 and a screw.
Screw in the screw into the ignition with a screw driver then attach the dent puller..
Then give it one good wack!
Then just insert the car thieves "Universal Key" ..the Legendary Flat Head screwdriver LOL
The hard part is not getting caught.. the night before may be a good time to "borrow" a license plate ;)

PPS:
Want a nice bicycle ?
Go to Wallmart or Home Depot etc then buy a $30 mini ultra small portable hydraulic car jack.
Then go outside to the bike rack and slide the tiny thing into the U-Lock some guy is probably using.
Enjoy your shiny new bike.
Pro Tip: many older Kryptonite U-Locks can be opened with nothing but a plastic Bic Pen.

And since your all a sack of whiny opinionated useless shit assholes that assume till your blue in the face.
NO i never did either of those.
I heard about the Pen thing years ago on Youtube and the Jack thing not long ago (via Google)
when i got home after buying a bike from the bike shop.. i was doing research learning about bike security.
Luckily i learned before it was too late and coincidentally i already bought a MINI-Kryptonite U-Lock (as well as a Kryptonite cable)
The thing is.. the mini's were made to combat the jack theft method. (making it impossible to slip it in)
I was glad i learned.. but let me guess your all assholes right ?
So the response i will get is, WHY did you teach people how to steal a bike ?
Did i ?
Or did i just teach you how to KEEP yours ?

My post i guess is copyright infringement now isn't it ?
This story is exactly like PopCornTime being reported & taken down from Github (for copyright infringement)
..as a tool / info for theft.. the SAME thing.

SOOOO much "piracy" out there huh guys ?

See this picture and then tell me when is it a COPY or a Derivative.

http://i64.tinypic.com/feh08o.jpg

EDIT:
About the car theft thing..
Don't forget to crack the steering wheel to try and brake the lock (so you can turn)
Do a good job of it too.. it's not fun trying to turn at a busy intersection and having it re-lock up on you ROFL

I'll just leave this here..

i was beings sarcastic.

I don't know why, but it really bothers me that you put a space before each question mark. Just out of curiosity, are you Asian? It's quite easy on here to guess someone's ethnicity.. :D

Question mark ?  funny you brought that up :D
I Googled that like 2 days ago actually to see the proper way of using it. (for writing video subtitles)
I guess i had been doing it wrong for a lot of years.
I found out in some countries like India they can often still use really old English books for teaching.
And those old books taught people to put a space in there.
And i think the USA & Canada teaches us that there should be NO space at all. (which makes sense)

I think i have done it wrong all this time because it was easier for me to see visually.
AND last couple days i have been tying to transition my way out of the bad grammar habit.

I hope people look aver my bad grammar for one reason.
I hope when they see my user-name they think oh "that guy"
And then expect something interesting.. and occasionally weird.
Be anything, just don't be boring people                    ?

This topic is more than 120 days old and has been used to attack and slander me here.
A user named VOD has used this link on my Trust Rating page as proof i am into child porn.

I support File Sharing and i pay a blank media tax on the downloaded MP3's i got today.
So i will not feel ashamed about it.. i am not doing anything wrong.
We invented it and they tried to monetize it on us..

Simple.. they do not OWN our files which are often derivatives.

They chant like babies MINE MINE MINE !
Then stuff their hand in our pockets then TAX me for it and collect money ..then afterwards call me a thief.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_copying_levy#Canada

PS:
VOD is Trailer Trash from Alberta and i am not sure if his taxes are paid (mine are)

You can pry my download button from my cold dead hands suns a bitches !!!!11
