Title: July 20, 2016, the block halving date, what will the price be?
Post by: crazyivan on December 17, 2015, 07:59:37 AM
So, what do you think will be the price on that day? Are we going to be happy or are we going to be disappointed and why?

I think we will retest $1175 a month or two before block halving, but we will be dumping on the actual day that it happens.    Litecoin pumped prior to the halving and then dumped.   Market makers gotta abuse the newbie traders.

Well I don't really know some people say that it foes down and other say it goes up. For me I think it will be down a couple of month and than it will increase around November again. We can't say for sure so for me I am just waiting until that happens I am just fine what I have, for now.

Hopefully high enough for miners to avoid dumping more in the market to maintain operations.

I am sure that no one can tell what price can be. And everyone think like me (at least who have brain and think). Don't want to much brain to understand that with bitcoin anyone can't have some security regarding its future price. There are no data in which can be based every kind of supposition, there are no owners who can care about it, there are not any kind of rule which bitcoin is obligated to follow. Except one: demand/supply. Can be known only one part of this dichotomy. The other one, never. So cannot be some serious hypothesis by no one about its price in every possible future moment.

But if we want to play and to make a game then I can tell that the price of bitcoin in that day will be 876.54321.  ;)

Actually that is really hard job to predict exact price of bitcoin on the day of block halving but from my point of view as per current solid growth it can up to $1200 but this is my personal opinion for that.

Halving is not really a good sign in my opinion. Also I think the prices are going to fall down if the market continues to fluctuate the same way as it is now. There could a lot of reasons contributing to this as we know nowadays mining is not a good profitable income as the market is quite saturated and companies are doing it on largescale.I'm afraid the miners will increase the transaction prices as well.

Not really. Price went up from its low by more than double, to even tripple at the moment.
Sure it is not at 0.03 anymore, but that was just a hype peak caused by other stuff at the same time.

We are still much higher than before halving, so I guess the effect is there after all.

The price could be double from here. But that is just speculation. The price of bitcoin is determined by adoption, not by halving.

above the last ath, we are already halfway through it, so it look like an easy task now than what it was before

if this will not true, it will be certainly higher than what we have now, this pump look solid than the last one(2013), slow increasing is more sustainable on the long term

I'll go for between $800-$1000. I do think the volatility at that day will be immense since people don't know what to expect. We might even see plenty of $50-$100 price swings on that day. Great for traders. :)

There are many factors which can give impact to bitcoin price, so i can't say bitcoin price will be better/not compared to now. But, halving will help increase bitcoin price.
But, traders could use this event to dump their coins to get a lot of profit ::)

Halving is still long, but i think bitcoin price will be at least at $600

That's way too low. You guys are so pessimists because of the stagnant price lately. Remember that this is Bitcoin, nothing is written in stone. Im personally sure that we will be approaching or crossed the 4 figure a BTC by then. Halving means Bitcoin becomes harder to get, it gets even more of a rare item, therefore the price will naturally go up because the demand only gets higher as well.

I think the halving date will be earlier than July 20, it could be July 8 or earlier. The hashing power has risen a lot. It will keep on rising.

I disagree that the price will go down as a whole.  The halving will make the price go down, but I think the price will be the same compared to a whole and the price will continue to raise.  There are to many store owners out there who are looking to start accepting BTC and when doing so, and this interest will continue to raise.

The raise was caused by a Chinese ponzi scheme and crashed down after it was exposed. After the halving price fell off even more when everyone expected it to go up. Current price is about 0.008 meaing it has almost returned to its pre-pump.

So same thing here. There are no real reasons for bitcoin to grow. Thinking that the upcoming halving could be the reason is ridiculous because the halving is more than 6 month ahead.

I think it will be dumped at halving but may get 1k value before it. As we can see lots of chinese traders are buying lots if coin at current value and the one who have bought coins at around 1k in past will definately gonna sell massive amount of coins causing large dump.

SOmething between 600 and 700 USD.

It might go up even more but that price would not be sustainable.

With a 600 USD Price I am sure most miners can keep on mining so bitcoin can stay decentralized.

I agree. I just opened a head shop in oregon, called Local Heads, and we accept bitcoin. Ive got a big ol' BTC logo in green and orange on our front door.    A few customers have been excited as heck, most dont know about it but some do. thats way better than two years ago.

I'm predicting 380 at the day of halving after a few day run up from the high 200-low 300 range.
In the days after we risk falling down to around 120 because of all the disappointment and panic caused by that.
Price should have doubled too! Angry! Sell! Stoopid bitcoonz

If the price reduce on the block halving miners will not be able to pay the bills and most of them will turn off their machines.

Yep, causing a slow collapse of the entire network...
Confirmations will take forever and the network security will plummet. People will lose trust in the system and sell even more, and the spiral continues down.

What if a good number of people will slowly come into the mining game and start mining again? What if the "mining business" disappears as we know and a new paradigm will start? I would love to see it happening and we could start mining again with GPUs  ;)

My price prediction for the halving date is $747. After the halving date, the price will continue to rise and within a few months rise exponentially towards a new ath with the actual realization of the decreased bitcoin supply taking effect.

So much faith in the future price of btc.
Sana that is very pacific haha. I would obviously love it to rocket past the ath but I doubt it very much.
$3000 by the end of the year is just wishful thinking.
Lets break $500 for longer than a day and we can take it from there.

On the day of halving, we will be at $450. In the days leading to it, we will see $600-700. In the days following it, we will see 400-500. You have to be either crazy or stupid to expect 1000-2000 or more.

A price around the 600 dollars sounds reasonable to me.
Sure it's only half of the great hype but we have to be realistic, back then 1200 was just a ridiculously high price.

We don't have any reason to be disappointed regarding price as these are already in very good position. There will be seen some speculation in period of halving of blocks but not that much as some of our friends are expecting here.Price of Bitcoin will reach much more higher but gradually and over the time in couple of years.I am already happy that we will not see price under $400 anymore once the halving will be done.

I'm pretty sure people don't just turn off their equipment the exact moment the profits pity becomes 0. Many know that bitcoin is volital and will mine at a lose expecting a price rebound.

Even if half of all miners turned off at the same time it would make little difference, and a huge number of people would pool gpus if it actually became a problem for more than a hour or 2.

lol gpu, there is no way gpu will enter in play ever, the diff is 100B, the diff need to be 10M-100M for a gpu to be worth it, i was mining with my gpu at that range

there is a whole 3 order of magnitude, basically you need far less than 1 peta, not gonna happen when 1 single farm can reach 70 peta already...

I understand it's not worth it, I'm saying that some people don't care about the few dollars it costs to add hashing power to something they care about. I think if a few botnets and 1,000 or so people all did it just to help secure the network for the 2 weeks

The effect of halving will just raise the price by up to 100%. The general adoption of bitcoin will keep the price rising further.

The effect of halving will just raise the price by up to 100%. The general adoption of bitcoin will keep the price rising further.

Yes but there will be a lot of sellers once the price doubles so there will be some major price dips but if the price goes up to $800 or $1000, I'm wondering who will buy the coins at such price.

If everything goes well the price should be good, maybe $600 ;)
And if everything goes very well i can see a new ATH coming up ::)

The users will buy the coins to use it. If there is some kind of discount for paying with bitcoin, people will buy and use it.

I think we will retest $1175 a month or two before block halving, but we will be dumping on the actual day that it happens.    Litecoin pumped prior to the halving and then dumped.   Market makers gotta abuse the newbie traders.

This may happen with so much tense and think that we might seen new next high in price off course

I speculate on upcoming block halving date, bitcoin would be valued with new life time prices. More accurately it would be more than $2000.
Agreed. People seem to have forgotten how people behave in bitcoin bubbles and we have had plenty. Check my thread in my sig, all dates and price increases seem to fall in line with this.

Maybe 650 dollar.

I'm sure that halving will not affect the bitcoin price in a big scale except if more people started using bitcoin.
What is the point from lowering the supply in the market while there is no new buyers !

Yeah, since demand won't really be affected then the price honestly shouldn't change that much anyways. Since the price of Bitcoin is dependent on the demand of it.

Price would be higher after the halving but cannot predict the exact price of it, as bitcoin is very unpredictable, but we would experience some good price after halving.

It might kickstart a rise or speculative rise but immediately I dont think it will do anything.  More likely in 2017 will write a thread along the lines of well that had no effect and when nobody is watching especially the price will rise due to limited supply.   The most lasting rises are gradual and spread over a large section of users not just a fast pyramid build that fails when they all dump

If the price pattern follows that in the 2012/2013, the price will be over $5000 at least. I do not want the price to be so high.

Yes, I am expecting the same price at the time of halving, and there are 100% chances that bitcoin will achieve that value, as more users are buying at a moment which will benefit us at the time of halving.

We all know what happened on the day of the LAST HALVING. Nothing happened, no price rise or price increase on that day. Highest actions happened 6 months before and 6 months after the halving. Feb'2016 saw a dramatic price increase from 250 to 500, so we can safely assume at this point that the market has already priced the halving effect into the current price. Next action will happen in December'2016/January'/February'2017, my money is on December'2016 we will see ATH of 5000.

Everyone speculating as we'll get a good increase in price when halving takes place. Till now with bitcoin most users are getting profit.
After halving I expect a price around $750 - $800. I'm not sure this time increase in price or decrease takes place as few posted.

The halving may double the current price. So it could be around $800 range. It also depends on the bock size debate.

Be careful people. The first halving co-incided with bitcoin becoming mainstream which is why the price bumped - there was a lot of new demand.

If you look at alts, the halvings did nothing for doge, litecoin etc. Instead they were used for pumps - people pumped them into the lead up to the halving and then dumped when the news of the halving came through.

If we follow that pattern, then it's likely the price goes down when the halving happens, when people take profits.

if all the expectations lead to something in the end, i mean the expectation lead to more demand and then the following rise and more demand because of the rise then i suppose the final price is going to be at least $800 and maybe even more.

for once it's good to see some one being realistic with his prediction. i personally expect a pre-block halving pump which will get started due to all the speculation in the market. but i think it will lead to a dump just after the halving as people may sell the coins that they have been accumulating at todays prices. if we end up staying between $500-$600 then i am a happy person.

Thats a standard market principle probably going back to victorian times and Charles Dow, you should buy the rumour sell the news and yep you probably right.  Initially anyhow as the underlying trend is towards growth so long as the standard is kept operative and levels of connected people keep rising it suggests a higher price will result.    Down on block half but higher by year end I think

I'm going to say $550.

I predict a run up to $700 around the halving date, then falling down, and price will balance out to $550 to low $600.

The miners will simply need to sell at higher prices in order for to be worthwhile to mine. Lots of miners will be pushed out of business, causing further consolidation of mining [conglomerates]. But once the consolidation proceeds, the largest remaining miners (with the lowest power costs) will be able to control the market more, selling for higher rates.

Also don't think Eth or any other coins will be able to take away from bitcoin's overall market cap, to any significant measure. Even once (or if already) bitcoin is outdated and solidly a gen 1 coin in the realm of gen 3 or 4 coins, it will retain is market maker position.

The halving event is more psychological than technical. Bitcoin is a limited commodity that is only going to become rarer and harder to acquire. If only the untold millions of Chinese escaping currency controls on its own will be enough for bitcoin to continue to slowly climb, the halving event will just be a spark or 'excuse' if you will for the market to take another jump in value.

I feel like there is very little real economy behind price increase after/before halving.
After all we already had mined over 15 millions of bitcoin. We have enough supply to feed the demand.
The only way price could go up is by creating artificial bubble. How high? I don't think price will reach more that $500.

Many people are saying that the value of Bitcoin will not rise after the halving and people know that because the value is now stable for a long time and that is not that best.
Bitcoin is a currency and you never will know what the value will be of Bitcoin and that is the problem, so you have to only wait and see for what will happen with the value.

Stability is better than big dumps. Miners still mine a lot of Bitcoins daily but market is supporting buy sides. That's a good sign. I hope we'll see better prices but if we not I won't be disappointed. I enjoy over 400 dollar coins now. It doesn't hurt me as long as it stays over 400.

I think that the mass selling of bitcoin in the market will be a great down fall of bitcoin as everyone who wants to profit will be selling all their bitcoin at once and this will cause even more panic in the users.

So what's this 'SegWit adoption' mean?

Every price  below $1000 is possible after the halving... the community is prepared and ready to wait... So probably that is one great halving..Most are expecting a spectacular price movement..

by July (three months from now) the price of bitcoin even if there is no pump and only the current way of rising up which is slow rise continues then i guess the price will be at least $700 by then, but also i wouldn't be surprised if i saw a big rally shaping up to push the price to $1500

I really like your Question, i m very excited for halving, when halving will come than most of the people who wanna use the halving feeling very good or bad but it depend on us how we get profit or lose , so be-careful and use your sense and take the decision on the right time.
Secondly the Highest price of Bitcoin will be $1100.

I expect the price to rise before halving, but not too much. At halving the price would be the same as the day before.
I also expect that after the halving the price may drop a little, because of the end-of-bubble, but since the miners will still hodl, the price will rise back for a while.

I am going to be happy, because I expect to be at seaside those days, probably with no internet connection.
And for me no internet = less stress = more happiness.

But back to the subject, if the price rises too much I'll be mad on myself I didn't buy more BTC

(a bit more interesting as the market will have had time to react to the
actual shrinked supply).

For the time being, there is no big news to drive the price either way. In July, there could be an implementation of 2MB block size.

Bitcoin price is unpredictable even after block halving..

$650 is a very realistic price target in the runup to the block halving. Much better than al the dreamers here where some of them think the price will reach $1000 and even higher. My price target is $600 to at most $700 before the block halving.

I thought it is ten days earlier than the date stated here. The previous halving did not have an instant effect to the price because it took a year before the price climbed to $1000. Now, under different circumstances, we can't expect the price to skyrocket. It is more of the Chinese demand that experts say is the reason behind the recent price climb. I am a conservative speculator so my guess is between $700-$750 three months after the halving.

yes I see a realistic price when halving $600-700. $1000 it is quite possible, but it would not come so soon, maybe next year we can achieve it, because the halving effect might be felt until next year

I'm not as optimistic as I was when it nearly rose to $800. Now I think the price will be between $600 to $700 until the halving. Afterwards I expect a slow rise, but the brexit might somehow push the price faster than we expect.

SOmething between 600 and 700 USD.

It might go up even more but that price would not be sustainable.

With a 600 USD Price I am sure most miners can keep on mining so bitcoin can stay decentralized.

Sounds about right.
I predict $666 the day of halving.

Seems like I have made a mistake though, but it is good to see BTC at a stable level.

everything from peak to dump happened last month. i was expecting the price to plummet directly after the halving, but it didn't. but then again, as you also mentioned, it's not a bad thing to have somewhat of a stable price. we'll probably stay at $630-$660 for some weeks before seeing the price start moving into a certain direction again. patience is what we need.

Elwar solid winner thus far.
will retest $1175 a month or two before block halving, but we will be dumping on the actual day that it happens.
876.54321.  ;)
up to $1200
at least at $600
above the last ath,
$1635.72 US
between $1000 to $2000.
between 600 and 700 USD.
$666
380
more than $2000.
$747.
600 dollars and then go down after.
Under $1000, probably around $700 max.
$450.
600 dollars sounds reasonable
around $500-560
between $600-$700.
