Title: Do you think having a job actually makes you a different person?
Post by: TheGr33k on December 18, 2015, 03:05:21 PM
So this discussion is us conversing on whether or not having an hourly paid job actually makes you happier or social. Also discuss what you do for work.

I just got a new hourly paid job from the creator of Math-Morale where I basically teach children how to code. It's fun, but really don't know how long this'll be. I barely have any opportunities to log onto my computer and do what I normally do.

I think yes. I dont say it makes you a better person though ;-)

i worked for about 18years and i am pensioned since 1.5years.

i loved my job (i did db-design, db layers, transactions layers and a graphical language for bi).

the difference is: now i have to think about what i want to do and what benefits me. sometimes its hard to find something which i want to make. BUT if you stop making thinks you get unlucky - so you have to - regardless if you have a job or not.

so i'd say: people who dont work and dont do things suffer depression. people who dont work but still make things are a net benefit for society as it is likely they do things which are good and positive while not only looking after money.

People tend to marry inside a social circle, for example work or friends. So if you marry some one in the same field of work then you are making a change in life that correlates to the work you have chosen.
One of the first questions a person will ask you is "What do you do for a living".
Its such a big role in our day to day that its very hard to get around the aspect of life that most of us will spend a majority of our lives doing.

Hoping that this will change in the future with technology.

I think working is good for your brain. You meet people, get out of your bed in time, you live a life with regularity.

So the end conclusion is. You definatly are a better person if you work.

For myself, if i do not work i am fucking lazy. There were days where i did nothing else than sitting behind a computerscreen, watching movies and eating.

On the other part. if you do work you almost have no time for something else.

If you work in a job that you love, i think it makes you one of the happiest man in the world. Real problem is that our jobs change us because actually most of us don't have passion about their jobs.

well i think that a job can make you more responsable. For an example, now i am getting up around 2 pm and waste my day doing nothing. If i had a job i would get up early and my day will be filled with things to do and i would be more productive and that would make me more happy. Also, i would meet new people where i would work so make new friends. Also, i would have money to do what i want. i hardly wait to get a job :))))

Sure, having a job can really change you life and also your character!

We all know how is the life when you go to school. Your parents pay you the expenses and the only thing that you should do is to go in school and enjoying your day. I know that sometimes we all hate the school, but that is because of the professors. School like an institution should be place where young people will love to go and learn something new. Unfortunately, the professors are those who destroy this picture about the schools, that's why we have so many people who really hate the school and the system.

But, let's get back to the job... After you finish with you school and start to work something you will realize how is the life when you have to take care about yourself with the money you earn. Those people who start to live alone after they find a job, are those who will really understand me what I am talking about. :D

Definitely glad to read that. Working a regular pace really made me change my ways. I feel more mentally focused.

Yes.
Most of my time, I am just working and I do not have a lot of free time now.
When I started to work, I become a different person because I am really matured now.

Haha. 2PM...? You could wake up just a little bit earlier to do more things. My girlfriend wakes up at 4AM just to clean and cook breakfast for us before we get ready for the day.

The work and the working enviroment changes you with time, you can't avoid that. Sometimes is for good, sometimes for bad but you can't escape it

Depending on the job.
Mostly it will change you. You will start to value the money you make and also the free time you have ALOT more than before

No. I absolutely think that you aren't your job, you're a man/woman with your strenghts and defects, not other. But today a good part of people consider the other according to their job

I don't know. For me personally, I do love what I do so I wouldn't mind fully becoming it. After all, it is what I'm doing to put food on the table.

I feel it's not people who don't work suffer depression but people who don't do anything at all that is helpful to the human race suffer depression.

Its totally make us being a different person

1. upgraded our responsibility

before this we think carelessly what we gonna after this in the future, then we think " ah there must be have a way in the future" . the think keep going  until we don't realize it already killed by time from comfort zone to hard work zone
having a job made us think what is the purpose this job ,then one by one matter started to build up a list bridge and we start to understand that this job is consider for me and people around me(family)

2. upgraded our behaviors

some people never had a plan before on what purpose they need in life and what point they wanna achieve , by having job they started to think harder, smarter, wiser etc. they tend not to lose the opportunity given because nowdays find a job being a serious issues

Get more income, spend more money.  Certainly changes my spending patterns when I have some income I feel I can count on.

Yes, having a job makes you different person as you have responsibilities and you also have respect in friends in family, but if you don't have a good job, nobody will respect you.
