Title: Dash-mining.
Post by: GBGglenn on December 18, 2015, 10:38:37 PM
Hello, wondering exactly what kind of components i need for dash-mining. Want to know what's important except for powerful GPU's. Going to mine through sg-miner. Do i need every single component a normal pc have? Or can i skip some parts? Also heard that the AMD-cards are more powerful than the Nvidia, is that true?

Thanks in advance.

in the case of mining its true that AMD cards are more faster than NVIDIA
here is a list of the faster cards u can choose from

AMD: 5970, 6990, 7990, R9 280x, R9 290, R9 290x

u can consider using multiple cards, u can mine using CPU as well as GPU.the most important to look are definitely PSU, processor, a decent board with multiple PCI express slots and good cooling.

happy mining

Thanks for the answer, I appreciate it!

You need all the normal PC components. The CPU, memory and hard disk do not need to be powerful. You need powerful graphics cards and strong power supply. You also need PCIE risers if you want to have more graphics cards.

heard from unreliable sources that in 2016 can receive the ASIC hashrate with X11, graphics cards, although now the graphics card has already produced tangible hashrate, but whether will be when x11 asic will hit the market and how it will affect Dash

Due to the high difficulty, you would likely be better off to use a multi-gpu setup (amd of course) and mine at an x11 mutlipool.... making better use of your hashrate and exchanging for (or being paid in) dashcoin. However a normal desktop with 1-7 gpu's will be all you need to mine. I've repurposed many old desktops (If using more then one gpu, I recommend removing the side panel of the pc for better airflow.)

The market cap for all the X11 coins is too small. It is not worth building ASIC for those coins. X11 is supposed to e ASIC resistant. If it is not, then the coins will change algorithm.

If any coin market cap becomes big enough for ASICs, devs will not change the algorithm and risk destroying their coin. We've all seen this before.

Vertcoin did.
feathercoin too

actually there have been rumors of asic for x11 for more than a year (no proof though and most coming from "fake" cloud mining (like if there were real cloudmining ;D)

Cleverhash announced they were working on an X11 (and IIRC X13/X15 as well) ASIC last year.

They apparently didn't come up with the funding to finish their design - but at least they didn't try to do preorders.

yeah well ;D I remember them, never believed they would ever come with anything tbh, they were asking for something like 30millions usd to start their stuff... (and 2014 was really the year of all scam coins)
