Post by: koshgel on December 19, 2015, 01:01:47 AM
Will position status and usernames be transferred to the new forum? Or will everything be reset?

Everything will be transferred to the new forum.  I believe they have already done some test migrations.  :)

Yes, this has been asked and answered numerous times.

Indeed, first dataset import was done about half an year ago iirc. It proved to be a bit tricky to pull off correctly.

Everything except passwords. IIRC it was disclosed that users would need to reset their passwords via email prior to logging in the first time.

That's how it'll be during the beta, but after total migration there'll need to be a somewhat-hidden page for using your old password. Otherwise people with invalid emails would get locked out.

That is good to hear, I had expressed concerns (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=966213.msg10593214#msg10593214) about only being able to access the new forum via email password reset ~10 months ago. This is especially good for people who strongly wish to stay anonymous

Any way to apply for a beta testing spot? I assume you want to limit the number of people and probably have enough, just curious.

It should be a open beta and should come pretty soon IIRC. No need to apply for anything.

I just hoped I might get into the cool kids beta. No biggie.

A while ago I asked wangbus about his aproach on the beta testing. He said it will be a straight public beta after the public beta(so no semi-public beta where regular users can apply or be selected). But I'll shoot him a question anyway.
OTOH Lauda is correct, the public beta is pretty close at this point so probably won't be a long wait.
