Title: I have a TON of Free Power and 15 i5/i7 Computers
Post by: Evan on December 06, 2012, 07:58:28 PM
Looking for Alt. Currencys that are CPU based and not something that needs to be ran on a GPU.

Any ideas?

LTC is CPU based - and, as far as I understand, the most successful alt currency at the moment.

False, it can happily be mined with a GPU...

With so many BTC miners moving their GPU rigs to LTC I doubt it will be long before CPU mining is unprofitable.

You would probably be better off selling the systems if you can and then invest the money either in coins or in hardware to mine

It's going to be difficult to be unprofitable with "free power" and any hardware ready to go.

I dunno. Give it a crack. You can do it without installing anything just pointing your browser at:

Just get a litecoinwallet in advance. You can get one online LTC wallet at: https://btc-e.com/ (https://btc-e.com/)

Sorry, I should have said about as profitable as walking through parking lots picking up change... better?

Can you run VMs and give remote access? I'm looking for more cpu power to lease. A minimal amount of ram and a few mbit connection is enough. I could probably use another 10 cores at the moment. This are legit computations but not alt chain.
