Hey I wanted to give a heads up and warn people, if you use twitter and have tweeted shapeshift or Erik Voorhees there is a chance you will get a tweet about following him so he can send you a direct message. This isn't him the handle will be missing an o and will read @ErikVorhees This will lead to a survey monkey and a "one time double shift" up to 3 btc free.

Don't be stupid guys, it is a phish and watch the handle, the account looks just like the original thing so pay attention. Don't get phished and remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Hi OP, might be related.

Two weeks (or was it three?) ago, there was a surveymonkey survey link posted on ShapeShift.io site. It claims to give 0.05 BTC (I cannot remember the exact amount, sorry) for a completed survey. The survey did not ask for specific personal particulars but it generally seek opinions about the btc scene in general, more like a marketing survey. Questions such as age range, gender, educational qualifications were asked. Typical quantitative questions.

I cannot recall if the coins came in.

As usual, the old "if it looks too good to be true then it is" applies here, And for most things bitcoin related.

If they don't ask for personal info they cannot really phise you right? Did you fill it out and receive the coins?

As for receiving 3 btc for a survey, your alarm bells should start ringing right away..

Ever since I started following twitter accounts of Bitcoin users and Bitcoins sites i've been receiving Direct Messages from different directions. I read the messages but I never click any link from DM's regardless of where its coming from unless I requested for it. If it's unsolicited, then I don't have time to click that link.

WE are only going to see more and more of those "african prince of niggeria" type of scam, so get your spam folders ready because in the next years it will be the most used method to try to scam the most uninformed people out there as Bitcoin gets bigger and scammers worldwide take advantage of it. I just hope education will rise as well within the usage of BTC

Yeah. I've also received an email with that survey. I was sceptical but the link was fine. I've done it and received $5 in bitcoins.
So the survey was legit, but the one linked by the scammer doesn't have to be.

Yeah and quickly, I think there were only a few targets. I even in the direct message noticed a few flags and brought it up. If he hadn't said I had only 2 hours (scammers always use time limits) and that the supply was lowering I may have even fallen for it.

He had bout 2k or so twitter followers and skinned and copied all photos and tweets to look exactly alike.

I am not surprised it worked.

Wow!So that guy put a lot of effort in it to get the best out of his scam.
When Bitcoin continues to rise I think we will see many more dirty tricks and attempts of guys like him, trying to steel us.
These guys are really creative and often are also high skilled oin terms of social engineering. So be prepared!

Very nice of you of warning about this. I do not use twitter very much, but will keep my eyes open to not fall for this. Thanks.

These guys are getting better every day... You really need to look at every little detail these days... even simple tasks like copy and paste, needs to be double checked. I cannot

believe how much trouble these guys go through to scam people out of their hard earned money.

Twitter is famous for it identity fakes and associated scams, so be careful if you receive communication like these.  >:( ....Check and triple check, before you reply.
