Can I buy stuff on Ebay or Amazon with bitcoin?

Not directly. There are a good few people who offer Amazon gift codes for BTC, however, usually at a significant discount (5-15%). I don't think I've heard of anyone offering something similar for eBay. Fwiw, I know there used to be a few services which sold Newegg items in a kind of automated pass-through method. One or two might still be up if you Google around.

BitMit (http://bitmit.net/en/?ref=1471) effectively serves as the "eBay of Bitcoin," and while I'm unaware of a more Amazon-like offering, there is bitcoinstore (http://www.bitcoinstore.com/).

I always wanted to purchase stuff on amazon with bitcoin by proxy of some reseller of gift cards. The only problem:
All of the guys offering this service seem to live in the US. AFAIK US amazon credit is not convertible to German (European) credit.
I just searched the forum again in hopes to fin any such service now to make my purchases for christmas. Looks like I have to go without Bitcoin again.

I was thinking of making an amazon-type bitCoin store, but I'm not sure the demand really meets my expectations. Also just from looking around there seems to be a lot of BTC stores already

Not as far as I'm aware, but it would be nice not to have to depend on Paypal for Ebay purchase.

Well, we have a market section here, as far as I know.
So try to buy / sell here, seems to me very convenient.
And for those of you who want to protect their anonymity: Use PGP to encrypt your messages, e.g. your addresses to where a bought / sold producty shoudl be delivered.

This is good information, my mother was asking about bitcoin and where she could purchase things with bitcoin.
For her age she actually has grasped the idea behind BTC and is asking me to go ahead and give her some advice as to where she could spend her bitcoins if she chooses to purchase them, however she wants to buy them and have them increase in value then make her purchase.

thanks for the info!

Is it safe, as I know the amazon gift cards can be bought with stolen credit card.

I would recommend to exchange bitcoins to paypal and then spend paypal on ebay.
