Title: Selling BTC
Post by: quattrobente on December 09, 2012, 05:59:58 PM
Im just new to bitcoins and from what i've experienced so far it's harder to liquidate them than to acquire through purchase. I've been constantly finding ways or looking for legit buyers/traders, but no luck so far.  As much as possible i try to stay away from Paypal since i'm afraid to get my account frozen and some of the scamming i read. I'm from SE Asia so chances are slimmer no Dwolla,Ukash or such.

I'd like to know what are the most safest route to selling BTC? Also i've read about #otc can anyone atleast list legit buyers from there? Im also new to using irc so it's quite hard for me to understand how otc works and  the commands needed to go around there. It's not like a normal forum which im used to. Or are there any sites you know that would purchase BTC? i've looked into fastcash4btc but i don't have dwolla,a US account, or a PP verified "US address" . Could anyone walk me through? i need to liquidate for now.

When using the bitcoin-otc using the command ;;rating <handle> will provide you with a rating for a user.  this is based o the web of trust infrastructure.  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Secure_Trading#Using_the_Web-Of-Trust. It will provide you with a pretty good idea who you can trust and who you might want to take a little caution with.

Getting set up with IRC is not too difficult.  You'll need to install it, create a user account and secure the user account, then bcauth it and gpg auth it.  I cover the things in my book, see the signature.  You can also get some instructions online here: http://bitcoin-otc.com.

Hope this helps.  I have an article on my blog about dwolla, you should read it before relying on it.  Its a better longer term strategy then a shorter term.  see my signature for link.

There are also BTCPals on https://blockchain.info/wallet online wallet.  You can gets Pak and then use it like a money pak to fund your paypal account.  I go over that in the book too.

If you have larger amounts $500 or more there are a a number of Bank transfer options that work as well.
