I am one of the top 5 gamers who start to play Defense of the Ancient in my country Macedonia. We start to play the first and unofficial version in 2002, 5.77b. Most of the gamers start to play this game at 2005 and didn't know this facts. :) Now, let me remind you of the history of DOTA...

The first version of Defense of the Ancients was released in 2003 by a mapmaker under the alias of Eul who based the map on a previous StarCraft scenario known as "Aeon of Strife". After the release of Warcraft '​s expansion The Frozen Throne, which added new features to the World Editor, Eul did not update the scenario. Other mapmakers produced spinoffs that added new heroes, items, and features. Among the DotA variants created in the wake of Eul's map, there was DotA Allstars, originally created and developed by custom map makers Meian and Ragn0r, who took the most popular heroes and compiled them into one map. In March 2004, map maker Guinsoo took control of development and began the 3.xx to 5.xx series of DotA Allstars. On 28 February 2005, soon after the release of 6.x, Guinsoo announced he would be leaving WC3 custom map making, and left the development in the hands of Neichus and IceFrog. Soon after, Neichus left the team and left it in the hand of IceFrog. This started the legendary 6.xx series of DotA Allstars which is currently developed by IceFrog and Valve.

DOTO rules, playing over 7 years, Dota 1 and now DOta 2

Come on guys, let's make this thread more active! I am sure that we have here a lot of people who play DOTA2! :)

Let's discuss about the heroes, their abilities and strategies. I will start firs:

EARTHSHAKER

Like a golem or gargoyle, Earthshaker was one with the earth but now walks freely upon it. Unlike those other entities, he created himself through an act of will, and serves no other master. In restless slumbers, encased in a deep seam of stone, he became aware of the life drifting freely above him. He grew curious. During a season of tremors, the peaks of Nishai shook themselves loose of avalanches, shifting the course of rivers and turning shallow valleys into bottomless chasms. When the land finally ceased quaking, Earthshaker stepped from the settling dust, tossing aside massive boulders as if throwing off a light blanket. He had shaped himself in the image of a mortal beast, and named himself Raigor Stonehoof. He bleeds now, and breathes, and therefore he can die. But his spirit is still that of the earth; he carries its power in the magical totem that never leaves him. And on the day he returns to dust, the earth will greet him as a prodigal son.

I think dota 2 is better than the other one.

Forget es, its all about Abyssal. Once he is launched, dota2 will have room for new heroes and then for once Dota can rip off the other MOBA games hahaha.
