Just be aware that the person in the photo and the name on that passport my NOT be the person who was actually doing the scamming.

You should send that to the Argentinian Consulate for confirmation to be sure the the name and photo match up.

A bit strange no? a scammer never send anyone that. It is very possible that caradenada send you that photo to distract you from the most reliable data (IP and bank data) and that really is the identity of someone who scammed at some time, which would explain why he had that picture.

    Buenas gente, les cuento que desde principios de este mes de Agosto me puse en campaña para organizar mis vacaciones de verano 2008/2009.
    Esta vez queremos ir hasta Sao Francisco do Sul, ya que el resto de Santa Catarina, y parte de Rio Grande do Sul lo conocemos. Ya estuve
    mandando mails a distintas posadas y hoteles. Ademas estoy hablando con gente que ya conoce esa zona, y los comentarios son muy buenos,
    parece un lugar muy interesante, con una buena oferta y calidad en lo que respecta a playas (son 13!!!), turismo histórico (se trata de
    la tercer "ciudad" mas vieja de Brasil, con 500 años cumplidos hace un par de años atras). Ademas está a 50 km. de Joinville, y menos de
    200 de Curitiba, dos lugares que tengo pendientes para conocer.
     
    Me gustaria, si alguien del foro estuvo, o tiene algunos datos para compartir que me lo pasen, y hasta sería bueno (para los admins), que

While we all would like to see Hector Matias Predilailo AKA Caranada brought to justice.  I personally DO NOT condone violence in that effort.

I agree with you, actually.  I do not think that violence should be used to try and recoup what the scammer stole, or as a retributive mechanism -- first, everyone knows that people in Heaven (or Hell) don't, can't, won't pay their debts, and second, well, aggressing against a person is just wrong.

I think that the scammer should be compelled by ostracism only to return the stolen funds.  In pursuing such, it would be wise to contact the people listed as his friends and give them a heads-up.  If his social network compels him to pay pay, he'll pay up much, much faster than pursuing legal "solutions" against him (which will only end up making money for the lawyers).

In Chile they had a private bill collector business dedicated to doing exactly this.  They'd hire big burly guys, dress them in very nice and spiffy suits, and then have the dapper gentlemen openly follow the scammer around, telling anyone who interacts with the scammer that he is a scammer and he has not paid a debt.  Sometimes the company would also spring for night serenades with a musical band, singing right in front of the home of the scammer, with loudspeakers, all about how the scammer hasn't paid his debt.  Never would they resort to violence, of course.

Did you use Address Verification when making the transaction?  That is the only way you could prevent a charge back.  Unfortunately the AVS usually only works on American Cards.

This guy cost me my rep and business in the bitcoin world, what a shitty fucking person. I had 0 chargebackes except from this guy, they would be like 100$ 25$ or whatever but they added up in total to over 2.3k in a 2 month period. I had to pay back the processor for the money and now a lender on the forum wants his money as well at some crazy high rate of over double what I owed them. I offered to pay him back last march but he was still on a crazy interest rate + the rise in bitcoin cost from when I borrowed at around 150$ rate, not only that it went through BTCjam. So if I paid him the money, I would still have negative Btcjam rating so its like really wtf? I would end up paying something limke 500 X what I owed.

I know this is a very old and maybe dead thread, but wanted to let you know that this stupid was caught and has a 2 years sentece for 500 ETH stolen in dec 2017
