I just pulled it up and it's working, but I would assume it's still under attack as it's running pretty slowly. Since I've had a wallet at the site it's probably the 3rd or 4th time something like this has happened and is the reason I don't keep much bitcoin there. Only bitcoin I plan on moving or spending somewhere else. With that said during these attacks I've never lost any bitcoin. It's just been a hassle when I was trying to access some of the bitcoin I have stored on the site.

What do you have evidence that blockchain being in DOS? I do not want to believe in something without evidence because some time ago I can access blokchain very easily, whether there are other people who get the information that ??  :(

Just because you don't use it anymore, doesn't mean those who do is an idiot. If you take enough precautions, blockchain.info wallet is a safe and useful wallet.

use another blockexplorer as a back up like this http://btc.blockr.io/ and don't even think to use it as a wallet...

I believe the website blockchain.info is the victim of a DOS attack at least once a week. I've seen them down a few times already. It just shows how successful they are. I keep on trusting them.

you used the wrong word, should be the blockchain.info, not blockchain itself, so i think should edit your thread, and you know btc is decentralized, so under DOS is impossible imo, and the site is usually down, so this news is not news any more, they should hire more security engineers cause they profited a tons of money everyday.

I think It would be best to use a desktop wallet like electrum
that way you will always be in full control rather than depending on third party....

I couldn't care less about blockchain.info. Anyone that uses it, is an idiot.

I use it to check transactions and it seems to do the trick...

What is your alternative?

Why? I use it to check my transactions (confirmation times) every now and then. Nothing wrong with that.

For those who dont want to take the pain of searching them on twitter ,this was the message :

‏@blockchain
http://Blockchain.info  is currently down due to DoS. Our engineering team is working to restore service. Thanks for your patience.

I agree wholeheartedly. I sure felt like an idiot when I used Blockchain.info as a bitcoin newbie and lost everything. Just don't use it. Problem solved!

Edit: Also, as others have already said, I would update the title of your thread.

this is where you need to have backed up the private keys
(Export wallet)

then even if blockchain.info goes offline you can use the private keys on another service, preferably a proper wallet not a webservice

Does that mean blockchain.info ain't a better service to be used as???
I have been storing all my coins there only, and don't currently have the keys with me, I guess someone even tried to hack my wallet as I got emails from blockchain with the code that I need to enter in order to get into my account, but the strange thing was that, I didn't even go there to log in...

this is bullshit. honestly i belive blockchain and i am a blindly beliver and why dont ? we know its concept its securiry abd even how it works abd anyone who knows little about databases and get a clear idea what is exactly happening there . i dont think its do easy to hack it until someone try to hack their databases directly. and as we know "hacking blockchain.info's database is impossible" atleast for this generous.hey i know there are so many masterminds around here but i am not challenging you to do so i am just telling the fact so please all the hackers dont go to hack it :p

This whole afternoon I have been tring to log in the blockchain.info account, which was showing sms code was sent. But I never received any code in my phone. I tried a few times then my account got locked. Did you face such problem?

Blockchain.info is getting worse day by day due to their constant server outrages. I only use Blockchain.info for verifying transactions and so it's not a big deal for me though. Well, I shifted to blockr.io from now on.

Never store all your coins on an online wallet. Although transaction processing is easy, yet you are pretty much risking yourselves in getting your coins stolen at any point of time. Why don't you simply use Electrum or Armory?

But those are for light transactions if I am not wrong???
I tried the Bitcoin-QT wallet itself but it takes lot of space on my disk which my PC can't allocate, which is why I have been using blockchain.info wallet since then...

Probably we can switch to spv wallet, like electrum or multibit which don't require you download any blockchain and will save your hard drive space!

This is a common occurrence on blockchain.info

this has been happening since the spring/summer of last year. I don't think it is a ddos "attack" per se. Just a lot of incoming transactions that the network can not handle all sent at one given time. Non intentionally that is, so not an attack just the normal activity from bitcoin users sending and receiving their transactions.
