Title: How to import Multibit classic .dat file Post by: CoinLake on December 29, 2015, 07:09:08 PM Hello, I have an old Multibit classic wallet.dat file. I used to just copy the .dat file right into the directory of Multibit classic folder and then was able to decrypt it using the GUI. (Mac)
My problem is now I am unable to find a download for Multibit classic to do it this way. My understanding is, I could use something like openSSL to do this. I just don't feel I have the technical ability to do so. I was wondering if there was an easier way? What I am trying to do is extract the private key from an encrypted wallet.dat file. Its turning out to be a lot more complicated then I thought. Any tips? Open in multibit classic and use the "export private keys" option. If you dont set up a password you will end up with a cleartext file that has the prviate keys. I dont think it gets any easier.
