what is your prediction for the price at the end of 2016?

While I think the price could swing all over the place, I predict a price of $750 on January 1, 2017.

I'd say between $750 and $1k.

It'll jump above and below that all year.

With the blockhalving and so I think we will see a nice increase. Maybe the same we had last year around ~200 dollar.

One year from now can probably be a doubled value as it is now.
So maybe $700 - $900 by January 1st 2017, we should see what will happen at the halving period.

I think the price will be between 800-1200 by that time. We will have a new ATH before that though, probably between 1800-3000, with a massive correction to the 800-1200 range.

Im not so greedy and i think the price will raise on 2017 around 600-700 only.
But we don know the fluctuate of the price maybe it will rise more 750 above..

I'll try to be realistic as possible. I will say $1000. I expect the price to rise higher through 2016, but the price will come down and settle somewhere around the $1000 level.

We will have an insane pump during the halving, obliterating the latest ATH. People will think it will stop sooner than it will stop, so a lot of people will lose a lot of people trying to short. Those that do hold, will end up victorious, with measly gains, and still holding their BTC intact.

If that plays out, why would the victorious only have "measly" gains?

My prediction would be an All Time High.
We should be around $1300, with the market fully absorbing the reality of the block reward halving.  :)

Everyone wants it to be over 1k but in my opinion it would be less than 600 maybe 550. It may go up to 700 then correct back to 500+ and settle there. I do not want to expect too high because I dont want to be disappointed later if it didn't happen.

Increases without any foundation may be reversed quickly. There is however a difference in 2016 - the block reward halving.
That is why people are so optimistic.

It is very hard for bitcoin to go above 1k as there will be lots of selling force at that point, so i expect price to swing between 800-1k by this year end.

I assume he is talking about this January as the thread title suggests so. Even $700 as prediction is way too high for this month. I first need to see the price reach $500 and stay over $500 before speculating about a higher price.

nah i dont think so, it seems everyone goes for numbers like this but consistantly we have been much lower, id say we will be around $500 dollars by then, We will probably drop down soon and then regain momentum nearer the halfing then lose it again and then work up to a strong $500. $3000 would be great but i just doubt it.

I'm guessing $1000+, bitcoin has a year to grow into this value. I believe that bitcoin can reach this within 12 months.

The momentum is growing and we're going to see large amounts of businesses accepting them. In fact, I've gone to a few restaurants in my city who already accept Bitcoin or who say will be accepting them in 2016. This coin is going to be proven to be safe, efficient and easy and it will, thus, be a large factor to this surge we will see throughout the year.

I am making the prediction that in a year from now, in January 2017, the price of Bitcoin will have surpassed $1,000 and will probably be in between $1,100 and $1,200.

Although those are pretty wide guesses I really believe the late fall all the way to the late winter of 2016/2017 will be a fantastic time for Bitcoin investors and traders to make huge profit (and thus for the price to rise).

even if we reach $1000, then it still will not hold. all people who are saving up coins at current prices will definitely sell between $900-$1000 if they have the guts to hold their coins for that long. many people will take profits at $550-$600 as they are too scared to hold their coins for a longer time. which means that before we reach $1000 there will be simply too much sell orders to eat through. it will take a few attempts to get the price above $1000 for as long as it takes.

Well to me i would be happy even if the price would go to just 600 dollars.

My prediction = 878.00 on January 1 2017

I don't mean to be rude, but what do you have to back this prediction up? I can understand it if you are adjusting for the recent upswing in the Bitcoin price, but that seems just a bit too high for just over a year from now.

this is a very hard prediction, because the time of halving rally is not clear so by January 1, 2017 it might be after or in the middle of it.

in any case i predict the price to be higher than $600 no matter if the rally has happened or not.

Consensus reached and a lot of new BIPs and interesting additions being added. Segwit and lightning network coming soon that will solve the complains about transactions getting stuck, and absolutely 0 real competitors because all alts are just not as good as the Core dev team... many reasons to believe in the biggest moon you've ever seen.

The price will be $1200 in the next year. That is after the effect of halving and the block size increased to 4MB effectively.

I feek like it is binary, 1 hand i like picking a price above the previous ATH.  Another option could be we just stay in this sideway motion for a couple more years until some huge reason to go upwards happens.  Things like openbazaar if it works properly could help us since buyers and sellers on that network will generally hold more bitcoin than normal.

Yeah, if we would think about demand and supply, by January 2017 price might jump higher than $700 per bitcoin or probably higher. But lets not forget about those who wants the price lower or those that will repeat Mr. hearn, cryptsy and satoshe. They are always around the community waiting for their moments.

You see that the value is going to rise slowly and that is perfect for the people with already Bitcoin so that would be nice for the Bitcoin itself of course but it wont jump or something.
And it will be really hard to know what will happen with the Bitcoin but we just have to wait and see for what will happen in the future and that is also the risky thing.

the slow rise is good for everybody who you can imagine. it is good for those who already have bitcoin because it is a rise afterall. but also it is good for those who doesn't have bitcoin yet, they can buy bitcoin slowly as they can get more money to invest over time with smaller change in price.
the only one who doesn't like this slow rise are those who want to benefit from day trading or get rich over night.

I believe you you are half right in my view. Because the halving will bring more progress to bitcoin's price appreciations that could make bitcoin prices to cross $1000 price levels too also I expect bitcoin will come closer to $700 price levels before halving itself.

I think that the price of Bitcoin will not reach that high value and just about some $600 and that is not that bad but we have to wait a longer time if we want to make more profit.
And of course it is not that easy to earn more profit with Bitcoin because it takes a long time to rise.

$2000 sounds good to me. Month of july has been so many things happened, I am confident that there's more this upcoming months.

We will see, steam already opened bitcoin as a form of payment. Maybe after a month we will see a bigger market going to avail bitcoin as their form of payment too.

$2k value is impossible right now to reach and i think the price will be 1k value in this coming block halving.. and after that more dump will come..

I'm going for $5000, it will probably go higher but have a correction back down to $5000 by January 1, 2017. I'm probably being too bearish though, and one of the higher guesses will be right.

$5k is too high to expect and I don't think that is possible to achieve in such a short span of time, if price crosses $1k at halving then we can expect something around $1500 by January.

This is impossible since the pump of bitcoins price is just a manipulation made by chinese, and it is not a natural growth, so $5000 is unachievable.

With the expected 2nd halvening taking place on July 9th 2016, 5 months would put us squarely into the last few weeks of the year.

I think the $2000 price is possible after the big mass adoption. The market cap now is too large for the big price rise.

$ 750 USD is a good guess, from what I can tell the price has been $ 650 a few times over the last 3 years.  Halving, the Brexit and the US Presidential Elections will keep the price bouncing along, but over-all $ 750 at the start of 2017 and close to $ 900 USD at the end of 2017.

If my calculation is correct, it will be around $925 by Christmas 2016. So, extrapolating it to January 1 2017, I predict will be around 850. Jan'2017 will see another blood bath.

The $850 is still about $200 higher than the present price. So it is not a blood bath. And drop from $950 is small.

After seeing the last 6 months results of predictions i will say that it is much hard to predict the price of bitcoin, by the it is the fact that if bitcoin got bigger supports and the adoption rate increased then the price of it will definitely increase to higher value.

I think the price would be 800-900$ by January 2017. As you observed on the 1st halving event the price of Bitcoin gradually increase even if the  price drop sometimes then again it rises up. So, it would happen again now after the 2nd halving event but still no one knows what would be the price in the 1st quarter of 2017 but all I can say I'm sure that price of Bitcoin in 5-10 years timeframe would be insanely high. ;D

Maybe $1000 is possible for the bitcoin to reach. Though the price now is just in its stabiliy, time will come that it will break soon and it depends of the price will rise or drop. But at  the end of this yeah maybe $850. I don't predict much higher because the bitcoins nowadays are evenly spread among us, so there is no panic selling or panic buying that will occur an the price will remain constant. I agree with you, in 5-10 years bitcoins price will climb really high because in that particular year, the bitcoins supply will be limited making its market price to increase..

On January 1st, 2017, bitcoin price will be between $500 and $599. It will definitely be under $600.

There has to be a lot of events and things happen over the next 5 months in order for Bitcoin to have a reason to go $140 higher, but I'm sure that everyone here wouldn't mind Bitcoin going $140 so that we can all make some more easy money. There are never any guarantees, but it is definitely more than likely that the rise to $800 will happen.

800 USD for me. Because of christmas impact. Many users will get their christmas bonus and i think thats the reason why btc price always inflate at that month

Predicting the price of any currency or commodity in the future is not very possible. There are so many factors that may affect the price in between now and January 2017. The price is currently floating around $640 and $670 but this doesn't mean it will stay there for long. A very small action in the market dynamics might trigger the price to rise to fall. Therefore, anything can happen with the price.

i agree with you that in January 2017 , the bitcoin price will be rise up to $1,000 above easily and i think in 2017 bitcoin will be too higher currency than other currency and i hope so 2017 will be year of bitcoin and it will be too good for bitcoin .

Yeah the only thing we can do is wait and watch and see where bitcoin lands in the coming days and what bitcoin has to offer us, I am positive that price will be higher in next year.

As the halving took place, it's going to be a slightly higher price than the last winter. Probably between $750-$800. I'm expecting a high price because every year it goes the same way: winter comes most of the time with the record price of the year, because of people buying gifts with BTC. 917 $, I think we can see this price until the end of the year. Maybe I`m a bit optimistic with my prediction, but I believe we have a chance to touch this price, and maybe to stay there. As I said earlier, we didn`t see the effects of halving and I expect price to rise in oct/nov and if we see history repeating we can see some nice bubble in that time.
Price is rising steady for now, and I think its good. With bubble or not, I think it would be great for bitcoin just to hold this price and go up slowly.

I think that the price of the Bitcoin at the point has to be at least $1000 I am almost sure of that because we have been waiting so long for that.

I hope its something like 750-800, but honestly it will probably be like $700.
Every time it goes up a couple dollars, I go to sleep and see it dropped like $10 overnight and has to climb back up.
