It has one of the best endings that I have read in the non-fiction category.

Descartes - An Analytical and Historical Introduction - Descartes starts from assuming nothing. At first, he doubts his existence, but comes up with the argument "I think, therefore, I exist." Then Descartes attempts to prove the existence of God through his famous ontological argument, which is based on a definition instead of empirical evidence.
