Hello guys, I'm a poker and sports betting enthusiastic. I'm glad to see the sports betting thriving in this forum.
Every day we see new tipsters threads, and we even now have a competition for tipsters, in which I participated and that is now in the IV edition.

So the big question is:

What about poker?

Would you like to see a monthly Poker League in this forum?
If so what would you like it to have?

I think it would be great if we had some exclusive tournaments for us during the week, and at least one could be a freeroll, and we could get points from participating, based on the place we finish in the tournament, etc, and in the end of the month prizes would be paid for the top players in the league.

Let me know what you think about this. What would you like to see in a Poker League?

i think it would be very cool to be honest most probably i would even try it myself it there was such a league though there would be a lot of problems such as what prizes should be or on what time it should be held as people live in different time zones

of course i am interseted in poker league. promo or giveaway is definitely a plus point but i am more interested in the loyal program, the more you play, what benefit do i get? otherwise i may have the tendency to switch to try out other sites.

i think it would be cool and i very intereseted about it, because i'm also poker enthusiastic. if we make league we need the reward/prize first. because it can make other players want join the league.

The obvious benefits would be the prizes for the winners, and maybe a participation prize for the rest of the players. But a type of loyalty program would be nice too.



Yes, players in very different time zones could be a problem. But maybe one way of avoiding that issue could be to hold more than one daily tournament, and allow players to choose when they would play. Although that may not work either if there aren't many players.

I think its a pretty good idea, I'm sure there are tons of players on here. I'm not sure how the league would work like a weekly tournament or a few a week? Anyway it would be a lot of fun, I know i want in. sign me up. ;D

The idea so far is to have several tournaments each week, where players get points for their participation. Then, at the end of each month, the best players in the league get the prizes. :)

It would be great cause most of the gamblers like poker than any game. Im sure everybody on this forum will join the league. It is much better to have a team consist of three members.

Of course it would be great. Its more amazing if got freeroll for this forum member every week ;D

There was. Player was playing only 1st few tournament and then lost interest. And because of buggy software of betcoin.ag I wasn't able to play the first one. Then saw thread again for last game. Prices was decent. I will be Up if some site make a new one. May be this time will be betcoin.tm :D

Definitely people will be happy if they can join freerolls to make free money, and guys you know people like freerolls. But don't add re-buy feature into freerolls cause people will abuse re-buy rules, i remember one dead site-satoshicardclub.

I think GTD also if the buy-in fees are reasonable, if people can see they have potential possibility to make money from GTD, they will actively join them.

Could be cool, but question is which site is gonna host it?

the first thing is you need to find sponsor for the prize, and find which site want to held the tournament,

if for the timezone problem maybe you can host it in different server so player can find their most suitable time to join the tournament

I would be interested in joining a poker league but what software or site would we be using?

I'm trying to get us a sponsor.

As for the tournament itself, I thought about at at least 3 a week two times a day (for different time zones), and at least one of them should be a freeroll. Depending on the place you finish you would be awarded points for the Poker League, and in the end of the month prizes would be paid for the top players in the League.

It's a gread idea though. i'm also poker player and i love it if there's any poker league in bitcointalk. and yeah we need sponsor for get that.

You are right it would be easy to find a site to host this. I also think it will be easy enough to find an active sponsor because not all the games will need sponsoring. Only a couple will need sponsoring. I have not played poker for awhile but will be willing to join you guys in this poker league. OP you should contact luckyflop and ask if it interests him which i think it will as he was always a very good admin when i used to play. pm him a link to this thread. 

yeah it was interesting just imagine bitcoin poker site with the smallest bet size bits, unfortunately there are no poker gambling site to bet like that

im very interested in playing poker in real life and in online casinos so of course i would be very curious to try the poker league i think it would be a very great idea to do it though it depends on how much money we would have to spend on it as different people can spend different amounts

The idea of having at least 3 weekly tournaments was exactly thinking about that. One could be a freeroll, and the others could also have different buy ins. Maybe not to big, since this would be the first tournament, and it would be nice to allow most people to join, so they can build up there poker bankroll. I thin the ones with buy in could be somewhere between 5 - 10 mBTC, what do you guys think?


EDIT: I also just remembered that at the end of the month we could have something like a "main event", that would be the tournament with the biggest buy in. Nothing to big of course, but something to make it more exciting.

yes i agree with that, at the end of the month all top players play at 1 table main event. and yes it has the reward or prizes for 1st,2nd,3rd. are you already got sponsor ?

When I thought about main event it would not be for just some players. It would just be a more serious tournament that would award more points for the league and would have a bigger buy in than the regular ones during the month. This would be the last tournament of the month before the end of the League. It could have some cool feature like a bounty for the top league player by the time of that tournament etc, but I will still have to think more about it.

As for the sponsor I think I'm pretty close. I will keep you informed!

All of that seems nice, I don't play poker in a while but I sure like the game. I will keep a eye on this, maybe I will join it if it goes live.

make it has different level for different target range of players. i am not really good in poker but if there is a possible gameplay for me, i am interested to try it out too otherwise i rather bet on other stuffs.

Its a great idea but what would work really good if a bitcoin site ran it for members of this forum in exchange for adding a small prize for the league leader board.  Maybe could do something with a signature campaign to boost prizes.

That is exactly what I have in mind, and what I'm trying to achieve. Did not thought about the sig campaign option.
That's probably not a bad ideia as well, although it would limit the number of participants I guess, since they would not be able to were their campaign sig.

Maybe you can send a message about your idea to betcoin.ag or betcoin.tm . I'm sure one of those two sites will happy to support your idea, because it will bring more traffic to their site. And for sure I'll be there when the poker league is ready to run :)

Signature campaign would limit amount of people joining for sure.  Could have it as optional would bonus is what i mean i think.

Be sure to include and the buy-in in the leader-board formula. E.g. the freeroll should bring a lot less point to it.

Sounds good, tell us if we have this poker league. betcoin.tm seems good, because they have many promotion about their website. and this poker league will boost new player to come to their website.

Well I wanted to make something like that 2 months ago. What me to say, I will follow this topic to see will there be something seriously.

I would but only if I like the browser based Poker room and currently there aren't any. So unless you're thinking of making a new site, I'd pass. Also, all the people which seem to be excited are only because you said freeroll and you'll get a lot of them entering the freeroll but very few will actually play buy-in tournaments. This is the reason why a lot of good sites died.

Cautiously, I am going to say that I would probably be interested if something came up with something legit, safe and fun.

It would be a great Idea and deal for Poker Lovers, because playing with house is not good, instead playing with players is very interesting were we can show our skills and talents. and if the tournaments and freeroll are added will be good.

Their are some sites who are giving freerolls and tournaments but their are some problems with the tournaments when running online. so this should be solved then everything is good.

The idea is to have more buy in tournaments than freerolls, so for that reason alone people playing in the buy in tournaments will have a chance to get more points. The buy in tournaments could award more points, but it should remain balanced. The main idea for the freeroll is to allow players to collect some coins there, and be also able to play in the other tournaments.


Not going to create a new site. Will try to get a sponsor and if the site has web browser poker it can be played in a browser. I'm used to download poker software, I even prefer to do it even when the poker room has a browser client, because clients tend to lag less and normaly have more features that I like to use. It would be great to create something that everyone would like, but sometimes that is not possible.

As for the freerolls, like I explained before, a skilled players should be able to pass by the league with profit without having to risk much, or probably anything. The winnings from the freerolls should pay the buy ins for the other tournaments, and the winnings from the other tournaments should pay their own buy in and the buy in of the main event. We will not have just freerolls, that is not the idea.

I would surely be up for such tournament,it is actually a nice idea this will not only entertain us but also will bring us new opportunities to learn and share our experiences with one another.There should be some terms and conditions to join this tournament in my opinion.It would be amazing getting some sponsor for such tournament.

There should be no problem in running such poker league as we have lot of poker players around.This kind of competition will help promote.There should be some prizes for participants as appreciation.

well this sounds like a great idea,but i will play it if sponsor wont be betcoin.ag i will never deposit there again as they keep you waiting for money sometimes up to 24hours. if swc,nitrogen,luckyflop,etc would like to be sponsor im in :)

I do believe that should be acceptable in poker because many things must be analyzed when it comes to poker, like collusion detection etc
The sponsor is not yet decided, but that should be a common thing among all of them I guess, when it comes to poker at least.
I'm totally used to that in fiat poker rooms, and I don't expect it to be different in BTC poker, because of the same reasons. Anyway that of course will not be up to me, as I will only manage the competition, the rest will be up to the sponsor.

I'm expecting as a sponsor Betoin.TM. He said he will announce a big poker thing today :D

Maybe one tournament a day allowed to enter for two different timezones. A small percentage from each game goes towards the end of month prizes you spoke about.

well i think they alrdy have their own programs that they r planning to run. they always have wonderful announcement so i wont be surprised if it is not related to this.

I totally understand, everyone have their preferences, I for one prefer the browser based since I don't like to install unknown softwares on my PC and if you have played with Maven's Poker browser based software, it doesn't lags and works flawlessly and it is the one I prefer which is why I avoid sites which have different softwares.

Most popular timezone for poker is around 7:30 - 8pm GMT however this mean its afternoon for USA.  Its better doing it that way than doing it :8pm for USA and midnight for europe though.

Yes you are correct. Ideally we would have a tournament 2 times a day (3 days a week), so we could reach both timezones at the best hour, but if not possible it should be like you said.

I'd love to see a tournament with at least 50 people or more, but I don't know if that would be feasible.

LOL, so you need to learn how to play poker as soon as possible the join us in bitcoin poker world :) Poker is a great game that is easy to learn, just keep practice and practice and you'll love it.

It's easy though for playing poker, the problem is you need luck on your card and experience on bluffing LOL. any update for this poker league ? i'm sure will join this poker league.

depending on the quantity of players it the pool, it would be nice to say have an entry fee to get into the league. A league tourney played weekly and depending on how you do in those weekly tourneys determines if you get to enter the final tournament which is all the entry fees for the entire league split up for the prize pool. If theres plenty of players paying an entry fee, there will be tons of incentive to play well every week and get to the final tournament. Something like that would be awesome. just an idea.

Poker is not easy to learn actually. There are so many conditions to raise fold and call. If you just keep on using bluff you will soon regret it any way. Like you said you really need practice more to earn more too :D

I would definitely be interested in this. There could be a tournament only for each rank and they could have a mini tournament. Would the fee be free or will there be a fee for this?

We have interest and we are just adjusting the details, but we are taking our time to do this so everything is good. A lot of preparations need to be done so that everything goes well when we start.
But like I said we have interest and I'm very confidant we will go live. Maybe a few more days and we should be ready to go!

Takes probably 1 hour to work out the basics and a few years to master - this is why its so popular.  Everyone can play poker with a little time its not rocket science. :)

I come here often to check for updates but as I see everything is the same for now.

Maybe to start with small steps, just our organization without any sponsors.
All we need is a table.

Things are a little quiet now, but this is still not over. Sites are interested but they have an agenda to follow and for now this is in stand by, but I still think we can go forward with this, it will just take a little more time. Just a table would be easy, but I'm trying to get us some final League prizes, on top of the normal poker winnings, as well as a robust tournament structure, and that will require more work. That's why this is in standby for now.
