So as the title says What are the chances to reach 1,000$ this year ? in your opinion ?
I know we are probably not going to reach that before the halving block reward but well .. do we have any chance to reach that price before the end of the year ?

the chances are really high for sure people will start buying bitcoins before halving as they will expect a huge price rise and then others will see the price rise and start buying too i think we will reach the new all time high this year

I expect the price to reach a 1,000 usd before the halving even. With the recent momentum, we only need a few good pushes to get the price to this level.

Buy and hold for now, that's what I'm doing, regardless of short term price movements.

I don't think it will reach before the halving period, but even after halving i doubt that will reach 1,000 USD, maybe $600 max.

i'm expecting an unstable 1k value around march-april, may at worse case scenario

then, probably a pump that will surpass it by a ling shoot, in the range of 2k-3k

Maybe, but I won't bet too much on it. You'll be disappointed later if it does not happen. Some spikes might happen that could bring the price to over 1k, but then correction will happen and bring it back to 500+ to 600 level. This is just my opinion.

I would say it's highly possible to happen mid 2016. I don't think it will stay at a stable $1000 though, a lot of dumps will happen and the price will go back down. I think the peak of 2016 will be around $1500 but it won't be stable.

There's been a recent surge in Bitcoin price partly related to the overwhelming momentum the coin has gotten.

People are starting to trust it (FINALLY) and major companies are starting to accept it (FINALLY). The price has gone up at least $200 in a couple of months which is exciting. I am predicting, based on the level of momentum, the coin will probably keep rising at a steady rate of around $100 a month until later in the year when it will keep going by $100 every few weeks.

So is $1000 possible by the end of this year? I believe it is as we're only $600 away from reaching it - we might see it by the Fall.

perhaps, a chance only 40% but for me i don't think price can reach $1000 in this year. i would happy if price stable around $800-$900

One or two spikes over the $1000 barrier in the second half of this year, but median value will stay well below that; I'd guess on average $600-700 in the final months of 2016. Still not bad for those who bought or will buy in far beneath those values.

I think if it happens, then it will be either just before the block halving, or just after it. I only don't know if we can maintain that price level as there will be loads of people taking profits.

I believe the $1k to see on a sustainable level the chance is around 50%.
In march-april we hopefully have surpassed the 500.
Call me your pessimistic opposite pole. ;D

Getting to 400 dollar was not expected. Even for the halving. Going double again this year means something is really wrong here.

In the future, bitcoin is either going to zero or to be worth thousands of USD. There's no way it's going to stay at the current price.

I don't think it will happen but it will definitely be around $600, every year Bitcoin rises and 2016 should be no exception. However to reach $1000 it will demand something very big to happen and I don't think the halving cuts it.

taking the halving and the expected adoption of this year into consideration... I'd speculate that there's a good chance that btc will reach $1000. not gonna guess on how early it will happen though.

Block reward halving would be the main driver, but there are other reasons like increasing transactions, more awareness, etc.
If only we could have consensus on the block size...  ;D

I am pretty sure bitcoin can penetrate $ 1000, which I fear is a statement that can reduce confidence. so as to make bitcoin not survive in the position of $ 1000.

The chances in my opinion of Bitcoin reaching $1000 this year are slim. If we are to reach it at all it will before the halving in June. I think we may go to around $650-$750before the halving if we're lucky but it won't last.

the chances are really great in my opinion to reach a new all time high this year in my opinion, there will be a halving of it what will surely bring the price up and convince people that the bitcoin has a very bright future and potential to grow

Correct, i think it's fair to assume we will reach a new 2 year high this year.
I think 1000 USD is a bit on the high side, but 700 USD should be possible with 'ease'

We will NEVER see $1000 again. Back then, we had mtgox's willy bot to artificially raise the price so high but right now there's no such mechanism. Halving of the block reward in July'2016 will have some effect on the price but it might have been priced in already, since these things take some time for market to digest. The last time we had a halfing event in late 2013, the price didn't move: six month before the halfing is when price went up (and down, of course we're talking about bitcoin), six months after the halfing in Nov'2013, we had a major price movement all the way to 240 from 20 in April 2014, if I remember correctly.

Will the next halving follow the same scenario as the last time? I highly doubt it, we're talking about bitcoins, ya know?!

You're right about the bot, it was manipulated. but last month's increase was all about supply and demand.
So in that regard you are wrong, the price rise now is caused by whales buying in.

It's very unlikely. It means bitcoin has to double in volume at least 1 time.
Which has happened but as we all have seen the market sentiment has changed.

The big whales were able to push the price to 500 USD for just minutes before the market reacted.

speculation and the media will play a big role in the before halving price. if there is enough speculation that it will possibly break through $2000, then we will hit $1000 easily. for that to happen we need the media to cover bitcoin just like they did the previous time when bitcoin reached $1000.

Surely bitcoin will hit the headlines again when it hit $1000 price levels. But we need to take it into it's previous high. Just a another bump will lead bitcoin's price to those magic price levels for sure. Halving and recent hash rate increase are some of launch pad towards $1000.

Bitcoin can reach everything depending from some factors. First of all (which have even the most higher percentage in overall percentage of all factors) is its spread and its use. The spread will bring new people in it which will want to have at least 1 of it. The use will increase the need to have more and continually. Otherwise have not nothing to use. The rhythm of the increase of two factors will rule about 80-90 percent (according to me) the increase of price. More higher will be spread and the use more higher the price. Even more fast. Then in the long term the most important one (even more important of the above) is its regulation and legalization in at least the most developed countries. Without this factor bitcoin will have always a dubious status which can affect not few everything has to do with it.

As about the halving normally can be an increase. But the figures it is hard to be calculated since don't exist data to be analyzed. There can be told something in favor of increase because of the double amount of transactions in 2105 compared to 2014. But yet is not clear the structure of this increase. Are the same people who use more the bitcoin or are new people who want to own it and have increased the real demand. For sure are both but only this cannot give nothing regarding the price after halving. We cannot know what is the real demand for bitcoin. And this make difficult a based forecast of its price after the halving.

for sure. the only downside from the media is that it will also bring in yolo investors that will sell their coins directly once the bitcoin price doesn't go up as much as they were hoping for. we have also seen this when bitcoin reached $1000 in 2013. these kind of "investors" are very impulsive and can't handle dumps. they sell instantly when the price goes down.

As i think after block halving there is good chance for it to reach over $1000.

Provably no it will not happen 1000$ is high maybe in the future but for now we need to wait for halving ends and it will rise above 500 to 600.

I think the chances of reaching $1,000 sometime this year were good even if there was no halving happening this year. The fact that the halving is happening pretty much guarantees it in my amateur opinion. I think the biggest rise in price will come a few months after the actual halving as it did at the last halving.

With momentum building up since last months we are doing great. Although we have to have another pump either this month or next month.
Else momentum will be gone and we have to wait again.

No way it will happen this year or next year.
We have to embrace the current price since it was achieved by some money pumping from some big whales/investors.

With the block halving i think there is a big chance the price will go back to 1000 again.
It should be followed up with some news about a crisis, like we see and hear on tv.

Other than block halving, the new ASICs and world stock slow down are other supporting events which are highly positive for bitcoin prices to reach $1000 levels again. I strongly believe, before halving itself bitcoin prices will test $1000 levels.

actually i see some of people who speculate bitcoin will be reach to $1000 again in this year several times
but i'm not so sure it would be happen in this year
