This calculation relies on the high, low, and closing prices. But in my thread here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133571.0) we see that mixed currency trades have pushed the Mt Gox high above the true USD high. In fact at the moment the high is indicated at 13.6499 even though no USD trade was made at that price. Does this have a significant effect on this chart? Or do these incorrect highs get averaged out?
