Title: Banker Interested in Bitcoin, Wants to talk with Satoshi
Post by: BrightAnarchist on September 30, 2010, 02:04:21 AM
For those that remember, I got my Bitcoin article published this month @ elliottwave.com

In any event, it has had the effect of drawing some new users to btc. I also got this email recently in response to it:

"I found the info on Bitcoin rather interesting!  Can you please give me the contact info for Satoshi Nakamoto of Bitcoin?
Thanks!
Stephen Lange Ranzini
President & CEO
University Bank*
Ann Arbor, MI USA"

2 things:

1) What is Satoshi's email? I should put the two in contact.

2) Also, who is the Bitcoin blogger? I would like to get my article re-posted there to help it circulate the net.

Do you think bankers understand a decentralised currency ?

It would be nice if at least one bank offered credit cards you could fill up with bitcoins. :)

I thought bankers are superconservative folks that would never go near something like bitcoins. Of course, I was wrong.

It's not publicly available. That's why I want to repost it on Bitcoin Blogger... just need to figure out how to contact the owner since there's no contact info on the page.

Why does he want to talk to Satoshi ??

Didn't he understand that this is a decentralized system, and that no one rules it ?

What an arrogant attitude to think that, because he is a banker, he should talk directly to the initiator of the project !

Good point, but I can understand why a banker would want to talk to the creator of a project.  I could think of a few good reasons...

The same superconservative folks that dumped tons of money into subprime mortgages?  ;)

he's probably going to ask Satoshi, "So, can you rig this with a nice backdoor for us?" or "Bitcoins at $0.06/coin are more than we're willing to pay.  How about we fund you to start a new network with a block reward of 51 coins every 9.5 minutes?"  lol....either that or maybe he'll go rogue and want to help us ;)

Groovy, so I sent Satoshi's email address to the banker ... hopefully Satoshi will enlighten us if anything develops. I'm pretty darned curious as to what the heck a banker would want with Bitcoin ...

Unless he wants to buy Satoshi's bitcoins, I'd say he just didn't understand how bitcoins works and wanted some explanations.

We should give him the benefit of the doubt. We shouldn't assume his intentions are malicious just because he is a banker.

While traditional banks may see their business model threatened by Bitcoin, there are other, innovative forms of banking that could benefit from a decentralised currency.

Sucessful p2p banks do already exist. Here is one example:

http://uk.zopa.com

Sorry, but I wouldn't trust that p2p bank you mentioned. Its name «zopa» sounds almost like russian word «zhopa» which is a swear word for «ass». And menu with all those «about zopa» and «my zopa» makes me totally rofl.
