Honestly I'm sick of this company and also sick of people who keep using it and then cry , I mean there is two zillion (literally) topic about it on scam accusations and different newspaper related ot bitcoin etc ... but do people stop using it ? Hell no ! they like to get scammed .
So for what comes to me , I have to say that those who keep using their website probably deserve it and like Satoshi said once  ::) :

Lost coins only make everyone else’s coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone.

Yeah it's a mystery for me too, especially since their interface sucks, not even listing coins according to volume.
In terms of usability it's one of the worst exchanges imo, add scam accusations to that and I don't understand how people can still use it.

Except for the fact that it are not lost coins. The coins are in somebodies posession, whether it is big vern or some hacker or just due to trading engine bugs.

Lost coins were not destroyed, so the coins of everybody are unfortunately not worth more due to this.

yeah. except this will be no loss of coins but a case of stolen coins by a scamming exchange! The thruth is that nobody is being able to get their coins out and that this is all begining to look a lot like MTGox. I wonder what will this do to bitcoin when the stolen coins gets dumped

Stopped using Crypsty long ago after running into several issues with lack of customer support. There are so many other exchanges available. Why torture yourself there? Poloniex has been a much better experience.

I have some spare cash on my Cryptsy account. The staff has been rather correct with me, they took a long time to reply for some reason, but they finally did. Im now considering moving all my funds (it's just worthless altcoins to be honest, less than 0.2 BTC. Is the main problem withdrawing altcoins, but BTC will work OK? In this case im selling all my alts and giving up on any hope of them taking off, i'll just keep that small BTC in my wallet.

I deposited a few bitcoins in to crypsty. Just to test if i can withdraw I had withdrawed but i havent received it for over one week. That just shows how little they are willing to scam. Plus the price of btc will just continue to rise making my coins more valuable.

people who still use cryptsy are asking for trouble, it was clear since their major slow down that they are out of the business of the crypto scene

there are better exchange with a good volume, there is no point in using it anymore

now that i remember all their problem started when they added fiat money....they should have remained with crypto only

I haven't heard anything about the government suing them, the SEC might be looking into them. I doubt Litecoinguy has any issues with them as he probably took heed from all the post saying to avoid them and all the scam accusations.

Poloniex could always be next, the best tip is not to use exchanges like bank.

Well crytpsy have a lot complain from their member, it's mt.gox v2

I thought Big Vern was Cryptsy and that he owned it. Now it says he was senior Cryptsy staff. Who owns it, and who's in charge of running it now if Big Vern's resigned? Bit John already resigned, now Big Vern's resigned, half the staff was laid off ages ago. How many people still work there?

Quote
“Due to a server failure all wallets are paused. Will have them back online as quickly as possible,” announced senior Cryptsy staff Big Vern, who resigned last month. “Thank you everyone for the patience while we get these issues resolved. Team is working hard and we will try to do more frequent updates,” he updated on December 9.

Big vern started Cryptsy indeed, could be just poor reporting or he may have sold it under the table somewhere along the road.

Their staff is bound the get laid off with their massive drop in revenue.

Maybe the costs of adding fiat trading and regulatory costs for the USA has just cost so much.

They will be lost probably just like Mt.gox coins (unless you guys know where they are) , because when you use them you will more then likely get arrested .
So yes , unless they hide them with a smart way , they should be considered as "lost" since they won't be using them .

The company is still operative, a friend had some problems accessing an account and the staff replied (with a big delay tho) and they managed to unlock his account which was disabled due inactive time (the infamous message you get if you don't log in after 6 months I think). He's yet to try to withdraw, and he's scared to withdraw his BTC since it seems they get stuck when you try to do this? Well they aren't very safe inside Cryptsy's wallet too soo..

I keep hearing about cryptsy's end, cryptsy fall, cryptsy mt gox and all. I know that there must be a lot of truth on scam accusations as there are lots of people telling about it. But then, everytime that I enter cryptsy it is up and working. I do not trade much in it (perhaps I would have traded about 100k satoshis worth of altcoins in my whole life there), but it keeps working good for me...

Is this only affecting to people with lots of money?

Do you mean that building shown as the Cryptsy headquarters on the Cryptsy website? According to this post it was only ever a mail drop, their official headquarters was never used as an office, and "it's a rented office that is barely larger than a broom closet". Bitjohn said he never worked at a headquarters after he resigned, he said he always connected to Cryptsy through the internet to work for them.

If you can be bothered to do all of this why not just go and meet them face-to-face and sort it out like that? Much easier.

Actually I did do exactly that. I went to their physical address. It's a rented office that is barely larger than a broom closet, about 200 sq. ft according to the people in the office next door. She said she had never seen anyone there in the previous 6 months that the "Project Investors Inc" (Cryptsy's Corp Name) had been there. Project Investors is what is on the door. She said the office had been used by a number of people over the past 10 years as a mail drop. Where they're really at, if anywhere is an unknown mystery. It took them three months but I did get back most all of my coins.

Altcoins are useless, they are just ways to get people's BTCs. Like a lot of people here im also worried about withdrawing cause a lot of people are saying they get their money stuck unconfirmed forever when they try to withdraw... damn, I should have gotten the money out months ago, I have barely used the exchange and forgot some coins here.

The authorities have a hard time regulating Bitcoin exchanges.. i dont even think they fully understand what Bitcoin is and how does it work.

Dont forget that if Big Vern is hosting Cryptsy in some weird island without little regulations in terms of money movements, the authorities can't do much about it, it is a price you want to pay if you want to be as anonymous as possible when dealing with exchanges.

This is not the kind of press Bitcoin needs and does not help people feel comfortable storing it.  Thanks to this board I stayed away from Cryptsy, there were several alerts.  Plus, there are many exchanges to choose from.

well cryptsys address is now a PO Box

poloniex address is the agency that can incorporate businesses for $49

btc-e dont even want to reveal where they are located

exchanges do not really make it easy to find the real life addresses of companies to send legal stuff too

Taking almost 2 weeks to respond to complaints via twitter would have been a huge red flag, and that was way back in November.  Many people still had coins in here and it astonishes me.  Both Reddit and this board properly warned people.

This is the latest about Cryptsy and it's based on what sources inside the exchange told cryptocoinsnews. A Cryptsy employee admits "Our site is [messed] up at the moment", and cryptocoinsnews gives the same information as the other news sites that Bitcoin withdrawals are impossible, but some altcoin withdrawals work.

Look at the comment section of the article about the timeline.  Someone has highlighted his recent divorce with a timeline and the wife seems to be creating issues with Cryptsy and the investors.

Quote
“Until we are able to determine extent of attack, all withdawals and markets are paused.”

or is this really true?

I have a friend who has some amount of coins on Cryptsy and today he was very worried he may not be able to get back his funds from there. I didn't even know there is such a big problem with this exchange it used to be one of the most prominent in the business.

Class Action Lawsuit Officially Launched Against Cryptsy

New reports have come in detailing a class action lawsuit that has been filed against Cryptsy. The cryptocurrency exchange has been under scrutiny for many weeks now, with multitudes of users complaining of withdrawal issues when trying to get their Bitcoin back. On November 22, the website allegedly suffered a severe denial of service (DDoS). Since the reported attack, Cryptsy’s reputation has been riddled with rumours of insolvency. Many people are criticizing the exchange for not explaining why they cannot withdraw BTC, LTC and other valued altcoins.

Think of it as a donation to everyone.

they aren't lost coins... they're stolen so still in circulation, just in someone else's hands

Not only that, cryptsy was a large exchange, it's not some minor exchange who commits a little theft, looking at all the altcoins, we are talking about a lot of money.
A lot...

well cryptsys address is now a PO Box

poloniex address is the agency that can incorporate businesses for $49

btc-e dont even want to reveal where they are located

exchanges do not really make it easy to find the real life addresses of companies to send legal stuff too

Do you these two exchanges is quite doggy or if there is wrong with it, we do not know where to find it?
