Title: Where did my bitcoins go?
Post by: bestyaneverhad on January 08, 2016, 11:03:37 PM
I was trying to buy something off of the deep web. I sent it to the url they gave me, but it still says my balance is still 0. My bitcoin wallet  transaction details say "0/offline, has not been successfully broadcast yet".

is your wallet you sent from now empty or has it still got the funds in it? Can you post the transaction details so we can see what happened? it would make it easier to see whats going on.

the answer is in your question

your bitcoins have not gone anywhere..

if you are having problems with your bitcoin wallet.. learn how to get your private keys (which everyone should do to learn how to backup)
and then import the private keys into a different wallet program or service.

the reason your wallet program might show 0 available balance. is because it knows you made a transaction and thus zero's the balance on the display, but behind the scenes it is 'pending' as it seems your wallet program is not connecting to the network to push the transaction.

so by putting your private key into a new wallet program/service, is like a fresh start if your transaction is never going to be pushed by the old wallet program/service. and because the new program/service is not holding the 'pending' it will display your balance as being available, and you can try making the transaction again

also sending funds "to the url" sounds off.. it should be an address, not a url.

Ditto, it's not a url you send coins to.  I can't be of much help but I wanted to say it makes my skin crawl when I hear people say they buy stuff on the dark markets, which is what I think you're referring to.  Good luck, sir.

It looks like your client is maybe offline then because i cant see that transaction on the blockchain, Im not sure why its coming up as you now having 0 bitcoins unless its taking into account for when you actually do go online to send them.

As others have said , id be careful off where you are sending them. Especially in teh dark web.

It was not recognized because the transaction didn't happen yet. His client is offline and the coins was no sent so it is not on the blockchain yet.

Does your wallet has a balance before you sent the coins?

if using bitcoin core:

go to debug and type in:

getrawtransaction 5203d8725a0b05d5219f30fc70c3c8ad8853426738e69a9c0c2431938d6ef59d

this will give you a hex version of the pending transaction (looks gibberish and nonsense i know)

copy it

then paste it to

here is an example
