I dont think the emails are from cryptsy. I would NOT click the above link.

From Cryptsy Site
Quote
Important System Notification
NOTICE: UNTIL WE ARE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXTENT OF ATTACK, ALL WITHDRAWALS AND MARKETS ARE PAUSED

Also from BigVern @ Cryptsy:
Quote
BigVern @cryptsy
A new phishing attempt is out. It is not from cryptsy. Do not acknowledge it

This should be good tho. Been slowly getting my funds out of cryptsy for over a month. Kinda hard being tier -0-.

Months of problems, followed by a hack. ----  rinse and repeat.

Facts

* Cryptsy insolvent for months, denying large withdrawals
* Cryptsy starts denying small withdrawals
* Cryptsy gets "hacked"

Cryptsy = MtGOX.

FWIW, the phish email has the same headers as the normal login notification email. It's possible that only a single server (or third party mail service) was compromised.

If this was an isolated incident I'd say move on, but of course it's not...

Whenever these exchanges decide to "gox" they blame it on a hack. There were a lot of warning signs leading up to this. Hopefully people got out whatever coin they could before they shut down withdrawals altogether. Wonder if BigVern is gonna take the heat for this or someone else.

The silence for a extended period of time.. then suddenly! They have been "attacked". Standard way to creep away from the spotlight, with your coins I might add.

Indeed, this smells a lot of a Phishing attempt, the link in the msg harvests your e-mail address (or rather tries to "confirm", b/c they seem to already have that) for the presumed attackers in Australia (or wherever in fact they turn out to really be).

And yes, nothing to cause any "good feeling" about the current Cryptsy situation right now, though I'd still like to think that BigVern may be as much of a victim as any of us users: you guys may say what you want -- but to me, BigVern appears to be a good guy trying to get this properly resolved rather than "taking the money and run". Why wouldn't he much rather keep his business going after all the work he put into building Cryptsy; you don't want to end up hunted down like Karpeles. I also think, BigVern is far too smart to attempt any MtGox-style schemes. Everyone knows they get caught sooner or later just like Karpeles, and that's simply not "worth it". Also, I must say I'd hate to be in his shoes right now -- but maybe these Aussie whackos are digging their own graves and blow their entire attack this way now.

So let us wait and see how this thing really plays out before jumping to those all-too-common "Scam alerts" this forum and similar ones are so infamous for...

It's phishing. Do not open that link in the message.

Important System Notification

Phishing Attempt:: There is a phishing attempt going around prompting users to go to a cryptsy-refund website. Do not go to this website or give your login details on any website other than the official Cryptsy website. There were two avenues of the Phishing attempt. One was via SMS, using our provider Twilio and gained entry into our logs and sending ability via a weak password on that account. The passwords on this account have been secured. The other avenue was via email using the same mailing service we use (Mailgun), but was not sent using our account. It is uncertain where the email list for this Phishing attempt was attained from, as we do not show any unauthorized access to our Mailgun account nor our internal systems. We are still investigating this matter. If you were a victim of this phishing, you should log into your account at Cryptsy immediately and do the following: 1. Change your password and enable 2fa if you don’t already have it enabled. 2. Check your pending withdrawals, we currently have withdrawals disabled so if you see one that shouldn’t be there you can request to have it cancelled. Regarding other issues that have been apparent at Cryptsy for the last couple months, I will be making another post to explain what has been happening in the next couple days. BigVern UNTIL WE ARE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXTENT OF THE PHISHING ATTEMPT, ALL WITHDRAWALS ARE PAUSED

Drat I was hoping this would be real. I can't believe they think that the general public would believe they've been attacked by hackers or spammers. How many times is the Bitcoin community supposed to fall for that kind of crap?

Funny that email came out before they made the actual announcement that cryptsy lost all your money to a hacker...

+1 as proven, this kind of site is from the non-cryptsy operator which is kind of hacker.
do not use their site, do not even touch the refund site, it is just for stealing your private information.

It's a big crime and no, they will not get the hackers.
They are way to late to start an official investigation.
If you would ask me I think they are just stalling, before they do a runner.
