Services like this are a  great way to get people to start using bitcoin.

If they didn't feel like there were any good use cases for bitcoin before, this might sway them in the direction of bitcoin.

A few more in all of the bitcoin using countries of the world and we may really be on the launch phase of acceptance.

I always thought that Russia was never a big supporter of bitcoin. When I saw this, I was shocked. I wish Australia has these offers.

I remember that news as well bitcoin being banned on Russia yet now they can their bills with bitcoins?
Maybe one day we can also see a thread about why Bitcoin is so successful in Russia and that they do have experience with digital money like what China had before bitcoin.  :o

So the news about bitcoin being banned isn't true then.

It was hoax.

It was never banned.

Some politician on central banker gets a question about Bitcoin, stunned he answers it, then goes back to real work and never thinks about it again.

Then all the Bitcoin news sites play it up and everybody gets into a frenzy, rinse and repeat (in other countries too)...

I believe some politician was gonna propose it to the Russian duma/senate or something, and most likely it will not get anywhere.

If bitcoin is banned over russia how this gonna work.  ???
I think those banning is only for the exchanger rather than using bitcoin. I can also pay mobile bill or can do topup from bitcoin directly and most of the country can do it with bitrefill and piko like services but good to see russians paying internet bills. :D

I guess it takes big balls for big companies to accept Bitcoin in a country such as Russia... This is the way to go, this will definitely make haters think of Bitcoin differently especially in Russia.

That being said, wish my ISP accepted Bitcoin :D

How I wish my ISP will accept Bitcoin as payment method in the future or as soon as possible. Well, it might take some time for my ISP to even notice the existence of Bitcoin. :P

Not surprising at all as I know many Russian users who use Bitcoin in a regular basis so the government (Russian) only make statements of banning it's usage but clearly no action has been done from them. One of the Russian users that I know in particular, he owns a small mining farm there and haven't yet got into any trouble by doing so, so it's just more of a hype I think.

Didn't Russia just create a bill that made it to the Russian legislature? I really hope it doesn't get passed. Anyways, this is really great news.

Yeah, it doesn't get passed apparently, otherwise this wouldn't happen.

Those Russian companies are doing great job. I wish more companies in the world be like them.

Yes great news!  Anytime Bitcoin becomes an option as payment, especially for utilities, it is a win!  I too thought I heard about Russia banning it but thought it was just a press statement and not anything that actually had legs.

In 2014 the Bank of Russia issued a statement on bitcoin usage in which it was characterized as money substitute banned in Russia.
In February 2014, Russia's Prosecutor General's Office claimed that bitcoin is a money substitute and "cannot be used by individuals or legal entities".
In September 2014, Deputy Finance Minister Aleksey Moiseev announced that a law will be passed by Spring 2015.

More info at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country#Russia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country#Russia)

Long story short, apparently Russia lifted ban of bitcoin in 2015 people are free to use it as they please. So it is good news, I am awaiting this type of services in every country next.

Russia has been jumping back and forth between banning and accepting it. The politicians has been sending out mixed signals from the start...  I am glad these businesses are

doing this, but at the same time I feel sorry for them. Doing Bitcoin business in Russia under those uncertain circumstances is going to take balls.  We need more companies

with balls in other countries to step up and do the same for Bitcoin to succeed.

You close your post just with what I was going to ask. I have read here that Bitcoin was going to be banned (or was banned) in Russia. It seems it is not so after all, and that makes me glad, but sounds really strange.

It's really cool to be honest and kinda raise more awareness to let people know or use bitcoin.
