Title: Bter Scam Exchange?
Post by: bitcoinpete on January 14, 2016, 08:18:21 AM
I have been trading on Bter for about 2 years never really liked the platform, about 10 days ago I deposited some nxt coin to my account and they never appeared, been sending tickets and emails and only received one reply stating that they are working on it.

Anybody else have any similar problems with this exchange?

If you had researched about it before sending any coins there, you would have seen threads such as :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1215679.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1208583.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1120444.0

And these should have been enough to stop you from sending anything there.

It's normal situation. There are constatly problem with nxt deposite, and constatly problem with alt coins withdraw.
Hot wallets constatly empty. Owner just do not pay attention to exchange. Last time 90% of my alt coins withdraw stuck with waiting of balance and leave only after week of kicking support.
I should mention all my withdraw finnaly passed, but it took too long time.

Also i should mention that btc deposite/withdraw works without problem. Btc hot wallet visible and always filled.

So from my point of view main problem of that exchange is not "scam or anything", but fact that it has no volume so owner do not want to pay self time for support it.. So there are constatly tech problems last time...

Long time back, I also had tried to deposit some Litecoins on Bter.
After waiting more than 24 hours for my deposits to reflect on their wallet, I sent an email to support@bter.com, asking them 24 hours to respond regarding the alleged accusations or to refund my coins, but I haven't heard a single word from them yet.
And I left hope after reading this (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2yt6rw/btercom_teams_up_with_juacom_to_continue_fraud/).

Bter and Cryptsy are all on a same flock.

No it was nxtcoin and it was around a 2 week wait In total I think. I know about those bitcoins being lost this basically killed the volume on the exchange, hope you guys recover your btc.

BTer always had "organizational" issues and it's been a bit shady almost since the beginning, but I never had problems with transactions. Anyway it has a quite tarnished reputation, so it isn't the most trustworthy exchange.

Sad to hear that! I never had problems with that. But after the hack, I switch to poloniex!

after the "claimed" hack the exchanger went to hell, and i lost a lot of money. i don't even know why they are still open especially since all the markets look dead with 0 trades.

I've used them for alts relatively recently and it all went smoothly. There's no way I'd put anything on there I particularly cared about losing. Their track record is publicly accessible for anyone to be unsettled by.

Everything seems to be working fine now on the site.

they have a lot of btc "freezed" (probably lost /hacked) that they will not EVEN pay....
Exchange could work, but this site is a really risky site to store altcoins or bitcoin...

They do not answer to my tickets since 20-01-2016, withdrawal of about 1850 XMR didn't reach destination.

It seems to be still operational and is accepting new user registrations. Something that I thought was a bit strange for a Chinese exchange at the moment?

Their price ticker seems way off, e.g. " ETC : $64.00↓,  QTUM : $41.50" and doesn't match up if you go into the trade page.

In any case, I think I'll stick to more trusted exchanges.

Why not con a few more unaware users before it's all over? It's amazing it limped on for so long and even more amazing how often people popped up on here not knowing anything about its history having just gone all in on it.

If I could write Chinese I'd shop them to the local heavies and get it shut down for good.
