I used to see this service all the time. Now I can't find any. Do people still offer this service?

you can also generate a private key yourself using vanitygen: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.0
keep in mind youll have to open the program from the command line, you can't just double click it from the file explorer.
just import the privkey to your wallet once its 'generated.'

Completely correct... Just a quick addition: try to use oclvanitygen, it uses your GPU and is a lot faster ;)

There is a website providing this for free (max 6 characters incasesensitive and 5 characters case sensitive). You shouldn't use it to store large amounts of bitcoins though, with they are given the opportunity, they will run away with the money.
