Do you think the religion you are following is the best religion and others are just following their religion because their parents are following the same?

I think that we should follow God, as our Common Parent, not religions.
Religions divide people but God unite us.

My religion is the best religion because I have no religion. There's no war happened in history because of my religion. ;)

Technically i am a christian but i myself am not happy with whats happening today, not all because there are also some who do good deeds out of good heart and not just for profit.

And there are a lot of wars happened because of this kinds of thinking. Like the crusades and others.

At that time, the Islamic world was more advanced and less barbaric than that of the Christians. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that keeping them out was a good thing.

Well, I suppose it's an achievement of the Roman Catholic Church. Unlike the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church never had Inquisition, Crusades and so on. And even more, it perceives such actions are manifestations of heresy.

Hahaha, tell this to orthodox christians, who were robbed, raped and murdered by the crusaders. In fact, middle-age catholics were much worse than modern arab "refugees". Like "refugees", these "crusaders" were no more than unwashed hordes of brainwashed and uneducated barbarians. They were much better armed in comparison with modern arabs, and that's an only actual difference.

I think it's wrong to believe that one's religion is objectively best. The idea of One True Religion is behind all the hatred and genocide and war in history (it doesn't necessarily -cause- it, but it can be used in support of it).

I was raised in a small minority religion (I didn't understand this at the time!) And we were very carefully taught that our religion is what -we- believe, but others have a perfect right to believe what -they- believe. It's just a matter of tradition, like how different nationalities eat different foods or wear different clothes.

A lot later, I realized that small, defenseless minority religions always take this moderate, conciliatory position. Then when they become powerful, they feel differently.

Anyway so now I'm an agnostic. I see my 'birth religion' (if you could call it that) as a wonderful ethnic heritage, and I'm very grateful for it. But I want to be a freethinker. I think God actually wants me to be one. To believe only what I find reasonable and believable, and not to feel pressured to say I believe things I don't, or even things I don't understand. All -real- knowledge is empirical!

Another advantage is that I can read about other religions without immediately classifying them in my mind as -these- religions love God and -these- religions are just nihilist lunacy! 8^) There is some wisdom in all religions, and they all have something to contribute to the moral discussion.

Same here. I am non-religious, ever since I was 4 or 5 years old. Some people assume that all non religious guys are Communist. I would like to disagree with them. Blaming non-religous people for communist crimes is like blaming the Pope and the Roman Catholic church for the crimes committed by Adolf Shitler and his bunch of national socialists.

all the religions in this earth are the best ones... we cant make a distinction between them..

Is religion actually relevant or is it a global brain washing technique?

They think it is good for humanity to be like this, when in fact all you have to be is a good human without the poison.
Some people get it, others spend years looking for it, but sanity and humanity is within.

On one hand I think people are weak by design - we always need to look up for help.
But I think we could also look inside of us sometimes for help - but it's hard to stay strong and motivated when life hits us.

This quote explains everything. We need more love than religion. In the religion, there is no love, just illusions. Religion distinguishes people "we" and "us".

I used to be a Muslim but that's because I was born in Turkey and my family is muslim. I didn't chose this way. There is no good thing in Muslim if you read Quran and live like it.

I wonder if humanity will ever get rid of religion.
What would be our world be like? To take responsibility for our own actions, to be strong and rational.

I think that my religion is the best because I have no religion. Each and every one of them always say that theirs is the best and authentic.

Yeah - many people say that they have no religion but secretly fear God - I wonder if there are people that really don't think about God and if there is any punishment/reward after death.

My religion is the best because the people that live my religion are the financially successful, have amazing families and successful children, are healthy, and support each other in good times and bad.

You can tell the best religion by how wonderful the people that live that religion actually are in real life......so just spend some time with people that are truly committed and see if you want to be like them... for me there has only ever been one group of people like that...

Well here is my take on death, I don't remember before I was born, so no worries on that.
I will not remember after my death, so no worries on that.

Death is 100% guaranteed, the people who wish in a god, are just living in a lost cause.

Many people follow the religion of their parents, but thinkers and investigators often tweak or change their religion... at least within themselves.

The religion that I am following is not the best. There are those people that are more like me than I am, religion-wise, that are following a better religion.

I don't think that my religion is the best. In fact, I'm not very religious but I was brought to be. All religions in the world should be equal and all people should have the right for their own religion without any fear.

I am Baptist but religion is a highly personal preference.
Study all of them and go the different churches and synagogues.
We all may walk a different path but we are all striving for the same goal at the end of the path.
So called religions who choose to kill in the name of a higher being, is not a true Jesus Christ, Jehovah, Messiah, etc religion.

My religion is best because I don't follow an organized religion. Hell some days I dont even believe there is a god, but I don't look down on anyone with different beliefs like most religions do. I dont think all gay people are going to hell, there are no priests raping young boys in my religion, there isn't passing judgement, I just am ME. I live life as a good person, but not a religious person, we don't need a book telling us how to live, it doesn't take a genious to know you shouldn't steal, cheat, lie, kill etc

Most religions are trying to say the same thing in a different way. It's all up to personal interpretation and acceptance of the message.

I know, that's why arguing about it is like talk in to a 3yrs old kid and it's annoying. Arguing with religious people about religion will take a toll on you . I know what I'm saying first hand.

So you see? Arguing is a good thing as long as it remains peaceful. Arguing brings out points that others may have not seen. Arguing often shows the validity of points that others didn't know were valid.

In your case, arguing with religious people doesn't take its toll on you because they simply won't listen. Rather, it takes its toll on you because you don't have any logic that can stand up against theirs.

In other words, your logical mind is trying to tell you that they are right. But you aren't listening to your logical self. Thus, your argument exhaustion comes from you arguing with yourself rather than with the religious person. All the religious person does is to bring up his points of argument.

yeah arguing is good, but the point is neither both side is listening so its a waste of time. just like what we are doing right now we are proving our points but this conversation will never stop as long as you present a new point and its annoying specially if the one your arguing with is not listening to anything that you say. im not saying that its you but im just making our conversation as an example.

it's not religion that is the problem, it's the people. There should be a universal religion with one "holy book" that has just one line in it, and it would be "Don't be a dick".
