RSS is how I monitor the other documentary websites. Saves huge amounts of time. I don't bother checking sites without an RSS feed. It's just too much trouble since all the sites offer basically the same content. You should lose the association with The Venus Project. (I see you promoting the site 2nd time today, I don't believe you're not part of the crew)
Maybe you can find an investor to get some exclusive content. But film crowd-funding is just not really working yet without massive marketing campaign. Only one successfully crowd-funded project I know of, was The Tunnel. But you can still try to cooperate with sites like piratemyfilm.com or vodo.net. They have some experience.
