I agree there are possibilities because it know well about the bitcoin market as it is a china based firm. If they enter then it is possibly they might be the leaders in bitcoin trade.

Yes, franky1 is right to me.

Blockchain comes from Bitcoin but Bitcoin is the one of the project that use Blockchain as core technology. That doesn't mean people or company that accept blockchain accept Bitcoin too. They are two different things.

Yeah..Alibaba is a giant , many country don't let them advertise them fearing they could take over the local markets.
I am happy to see them adopting Blockchain Technology.

How would you 51% a private blockchain if there is no information to the public about this chain? No nodes to connect to, no source code to compile.

Everything will be run in the back end of the company to assist their processes. Nobody will "mine" their chain.

a private blockchain is private.. so its 100% alibaba controlled.. not 51%

as norrisk said

It is said that alibaba may offer blockchain as a service in future. Do someone think that its a service free of charge?

depends on what they are actually offering.. as blockchain is a broad term..

it could mean offering blockchain currency exchange, which includes bitcoin and alts..
it could be other things like what overstock is trialing (stocks)
it could just be an internal(private blockchain) method for product control/shipment

This would be pretty cool if they meant it as bitcoin blockchain seeing how large they are. Might convince other giants to follow suit.

Only blockchain? Or will they also offer Bitcoin purchases?

That's interesting! Is it possible for someone to translate what was in the slide/image? Would be worth to know what type of blockchain service they'd be providing to the users? Is it a decentralized way to purchase products or trade? It's not so clear.

it only mentions blockchain, but bitcoin is part of blockchain.. so speculation cannot rule out bitcoin, but nothing specific has been said

meaning

According to the title, they may offer blockchain services. I think that it means that they will offer blockchains creation and maintenance services for a monthly fee. That's how I understood it. I think that this will have no effect on us nor on Bitcoin.

Don't know how to look at this? Good news or bad news?
Maybe if they adopt just blockchain every other mechant can do it also..
But l think they will rather adopt bitcoin ...fully operational with strong network..

Hm. I wouldn't exactly call this much of a victory, but I do somewhat enjoy and encourage this idea. I'm sure alibaba is making a nice choice here.

I think it is a victory, Alibaba is China's biggest online commerce company so if they start to accept bitcoins that will be a nice step foward for btc.
After that we can expect many other smaller companies to follow their example.

Not a big deal perhaps. But it is good publicity and helps bitcoin build a reputation. If blockchain tech is proven to be secure and robust, its a win for bitcoin.
